I watched the first episode and am definately going to watch or Tivo tonights. I did want to mention for those who haven't seen it yet, that even though I'm going to watch again I did find the first epidsode triggering or at least upsetting. A lot of the episode deals with the marriage of one of the Ts/pdocs (?) falling apart. Since this is exactly what I'm going through right now I had a bit of a hard time watching. Those in similar situations, should just be aware.

Episode spoiler ahead
(I do think we should be able to put spoilers in this thread since the title of the thread warns people what it is about; people will know to stay off the thread until they've had a chance to view the episode.)

Lemon, I had some of those same feelings. I felt the marriage woes of the main pdoc were depicted as happening so fast, like this ultra compressed version of what I've been going through for the last couple of years. It was like whooooooosh! It made me feel sloooooow and also kind of inadequate for taking so long. Do people really discover spousal infidelity and then rush out and tell all their co-workers and friends? State of Mind (new show) But then I tell myself, heck, it's TV, they're doing that for dramatic effect. Still hard. But just TV.

Hi! I watched the first show and loved it. It cracked me up, a lot was "over done" , but heck who wants to watch doctmenties all the time! R
Some was hard too, I am in a failed marriage too due to infidelity of my DH and his coworker.
But I could still see the humor in it. The show tonight should be good, because my and my DH acts like nothing has happened too, in front of other people. Ugh!

I'm sure therapists do talk about their patients minus any identifying information.

Think about this for a second, I know for my T, he has 15 of us a day dumping on him...I mean that in the nicest of ways.

I know he is supposed to be dealing with that as it is his job but he's human too. I often marvel at how he does his job. He never seems to slip or if he does, it is slight. He's always in the mood I need him to be in.

I can't imagine how hard that is. He hears about awful stuff happening to the patients he cares for. It must be so hard to separate...

Anyway, I hope I see the show tonight. I'm studying.....ugh

I picked up on a couple of statements made that hit with me:

1) You have to survive your parents to become who you want to be and;

2) Sometimes I think we marry people we know won't give us what we need because then we don't expect it and don't get hurt.

I will be thinking about these two statements this week!

I missed it! I'll have to see if it airs again during the week, and tape it. I often forget about shows not on the main networks.

Anybody see the episode last night? Sunday July 29, 2007?

I just realized where I know the acress from. Wasn't she in some old b rated movie called the Haunted or the Haunting? And Jeff Bridges was in it too, right? That's hilarious. . .the former psycho is a psychotherapist. I love it.

Hey I watched the show! I like the show it is very humorous but do you think it will last because of all the boundry crossing and ethical stuff?
I think my T is great, but if I was having a panic attack on the freeway, maybe he would call me a cab, but to actually leave the office and come to me ? I know it is just a show, but well.......

The thing about psycholoist and psychists who are married and go to couples counceling, and then the guy has an affair with his couples therapist, I mean wow! I know this kind of stuff really happens, it was just shocking to see it on TV. LOL It kinda makes the profession look kinda bad sometimes.

Yes, I will still watch it, some parts are really funny, but I guess it amazes me what they put on TV . ;-) Plus I liked that they showed "Freud" in the last episode.
