I like doing it for me. I find it fun and expressive. I am also fine to go to the store without make up on as I don't like it define me in such ways.

If you can feel it on your face you're using the wrong stuff

It was 40 years ago - so that might have been part of it.

Thanks!! And that's impressive! I need help with blush as well...that becomes a hot mess pretty quickly if I am not very careful.

I have had makeup on my face once or twice for performance type situations, and then other people wielded the brushes - I would not know how. It made me feel very uncomfortable.
Thanks for this!

I am indeed more than 40. I like it.

I have to go get my oil changed today. The car was yelling at me.
Sometimes I think it was better with my old silent car - less demanding/needy at me.

Busy, busy day today. Work, Dr. Appt, Work, Hair Appt, Have to swap tickets, Store for some bars, and pick up sibling #1 and their spouse, drop them off and then home to do some chores. Busy is good keeps me out of my head.

Anyone have fun plans for the weekend, or the holiday if you're in the us?

Yes, thank you. I think I mix up metaphor and analogies all the time.

Yes! I rarely wore make up and always thought (still think) that it is completely unfair and ridiculous that women "should" wear makeup to "look better" when men don't. Over the past few years I've started wearing eyeliner every day because I looked ridiculously tired without it. But other than that, with an ocassional lip gloss application, that is all I wear.

If you use a nude or white liner on your lower water line it will also increase brightness and awakeness

I used to be a makeup atheist because of the "should" factor, plus I didn't think I needed it. Now I wear it - really just foundation and powder - because the "should" factor no longer bothers me, and it's about looking as good as I can.

I am however still a nylon stocking atheist.
Thanks for this!

I also never liked kissing people who were wearing it.

What does this mean? What is your "water line?"

Stockings are awesome, with a garter belt (whether sexy or utilitarian) they're a great option. Everything can still breathe. Plus if you get a run in one leg you can still use the other.

Pantyhose, on the other hand, are an abomination and bad for your health besides.

Mostly I wear comfortable shoes and flats but when I have to wear pumps I definitely go for the stockings.

I'm thinking our next virtual Couch event should be Ellahmae giving everyone a makeover.

(Except of course for SD, who will read the newspaper, sip scotch, and shake her head in a world-weary way in the background - also making sure no one gets an eye poked out.)
Thanks for this!

I wear powder and occasionally eyeliner (though I have no clue how to properly apply it) and that's it. For me the problem with makeup is that if you wear it all the time people notice when you don't. Who can be bothered with that expectation!

The bottom lashes of your eye, there is that 'skin' before your actual eyeball. That's your water line. There is an upper one as well but the nude/white kojhl eye pencil goes on the bottom one. It's the water line because it's usually always wet

I wear makeup on the first few dates, job interviews, and sometimes professional conferences. Otherwise I can't be bothered.

I wear makeup about half the time. I feel prettier with it, but I'm usually still comfortable without it. When I do wear it, I like to do eyeliner and mascara, sometimes with eyeshadow and lipstick. I don't use face makeup though, despite the fact that I probably ought to due to my acne. It's just too much of a hassle for me though. Eyeliner and mascara is my favorite way to do makeup.
