Yoga (the non-hot kind!) can be OK for me though. I should get back into that.
I like swimming. I definitely feel better during and after swimming. Pulling off that wet suit after swimming takes so much energy, it should qualify as an Olympic sport, I think.
Thanks for this!

I wish I liked swimming - it would be a great mode of exercise for me because I have a very bad back, it's been painful more of less constantly since I was about 8. I understand that swimming is very beneficial for that. I just find it so boring and stressful, which is not a good combo. Plus I have a dislike of deep water so it's also frightening.

How come you wear a wet suit? Is it to prevent you from getting too cold? I know very little about wet suits - here I think it's mostly windsurfers and people like that who wear it, not swimmers. I think.

I SCUBA dive and only wear a wet suit if the water isn't super warm but not too cold either, I wear them more as a protection when under the water (corals and such). I don't like them though and 98% of the time don't wear one.

I think pre is talking about just a wet swimsuit in general - they aren't very giving.

I'm going out on a limb and am going to be really open for a second. I'm terrified of getting pregnant this month for so many reasons. Seriously scared about it. Too much going on right now.

Forgive me if I'm being too prying, but are there not things you could do to prevent it from happening?

Not prying there is but there are also other circumstances in my life with the other half that make it complicated. Then again it is my body and I should be able to make choices, right? Guess I know what topic T and I will be discussing today.

Yuck.

Your body - your choice. Absolutely. I do understand that it can be complicated though. I hope your T will be helpful.

Definitely talk about it with your T. You should be able to make choices with your body for sure.

T Answered my text 3 hrs later with a response of I could see you tomorrow morning. I know that is a good thing, but for some reason his response pissed me off.

I mistook it too! The worse thing is pulling it back on after a trip to the ladies room. That's where the dancing chilli moves come in handy!

I'll have to go to bed soon - very early start tomorrow, to go to a spa/conference place with work. We'll have a planning session for next semester, five hours or so, and then there will be Japanese baths and swimming and dinner, all paid for by work. Most people will stay overnight at the hotel, also paid for by work.

However, I'll leave immediately after the planning session. There is no way I'll get into a swimsuit in front of any of my work mates, I don't think it's reasonable to expect that of us, and I do not appreciate having to travel almost three hours in each direction (bus, train, boat) for a five-hour meeting. But I have to go, I don't have a choice, and everybody else loves this annual spa thing and I don't have to whine about it - I do get a free lunch, and coffee.

You could stay in the hotel with a book and not go into the baths and swimming. That's what I would do. Don't have to go home, win/win.

boat!? I wanna travel by boat. I LOVE boats.

I find the repetitive nature of swim strokes soothing - my body knows what it is doing and I can let muscle memory take over while my mind floats free. I often begin a swim angry or stressed and about halfway through I start feeling peaceful.

I loathe running, though, finding that boring and stressful - I can only do it as part of a triathlon, not on its own.

Maybe the next Couch should be boat-shaped. Though I don't know how SD will get any privacy, unless we tow her along behind on a buoy.

I could tread water in the deep end for like forever. With or without a kickboard for variation. Big old sun hat, sunglasses, earplugs - the world could come crashing down around me, I wouldn't even notice.

I doubt SD would like to be towed on a buoy with salt spray splashing on her, I however would have no problem with it.
