Seriously though. I am feeling pretty darn good lately. Not really drinking wine this evening, just had a glass of milk with dinner. Work is stressful as usual, but I'm handling it better than ever. Keeping myself grounded, which is a challenge at times, but I'm doing it. I guess it's kind of a mindfulness thing, being aware of myself and knowing my nature, helps me catch myself before I go too far from center, so I can take a deep breath and find that place inside me again. I wonder how one gets to the point of it being automatic, though, instead of having to remind myself, so that I just stay there... instead of having to watch and catch myself and correct my course.... not that I'm complaining, I'm much happier the last 3 weeks that way.... I just wonder. I guess it's like any habit - you have to repeat a behavior a certain amount of times for it to become a habit? Or something like that.

It is so much easier to handle everything from my center.
Thanks for this!

I don't think it ever becomes automatic. You still get caught up in your thoughts and emotions sometimes. It just becomes easier to get back, you catch it sooner, etc.

At least, that's what people tell me.

Is it unusual for a 43-year-old woman to wear her hair in a ponytail? I do it all the time and I was just wondering if it was out of the ordinary. I'm the only one I know who does that, but I don't know a lot of people.

I may or may not keep doing it; I'm just wondering if it's unusual is all.

I will be 50 in september and wear mine in a ponytail but it is pretty long.

Don't think so. I sometimes wear a ponytail (though I'm not 43 yet ).

The older women get, the more likely they are to have short, non-ponytail-friendly hair. Maybe that's why it doesn't seem that common.

At nape of your neck of higher up on your head?

I don't drink for the moment so I can't participate in the other discussion. (don't stop because of me!!! I'm voluntarily not drinking and I would toast you if I could!)

I'll be 54 in early July and I still do! My hair's not very long anymore, but I never get it cut too short for a ponytail. Sometimes I just want a ponytail, I dunno!

Both, depending on my mood. I like it high up sometimes so I swish it in annoying peoples faces by "accident"
I should amend that to mostly high up. There are a lot of annoying people out there

Thanks, everybody! I don't like how I look in really short hair although sometimes I hate having to wash my longish hair. I figure that's the depression talking though.

Now I have something to aspire to...growing hair long enough to swish in other people's faces! Such an inspiring image! The Couch 116: Puns Tsar Terrible...

Oh Lord yes!!! The man seriously needs an editor. I've read them all, but I was only successful doing so after the HBO series started (which HUGELY pares down the number characters and confusion) and had a visual to work with.

I am no spring chicken and I love a good high ponytail. It makes me feel a little bit like I'm from the 1950s!

I also often wear my hair in two braids, like Laura from Little House on the Prairie, or Pippi Longstocking.
Thanks for this!

I used to love Pippi Longstocking back in the day!!

I have a picture of me somewhere when my hair was still longer, in braids like that. I'll have to try to find it....

Husband's question to the lady on Jeopardy tonight... "are you naturally that gray or just old..." goodness.

I'm sorry did he mean was the lady going gray prematurely? Or is there a degree of artificiality to gray hair I have missed

I'm 39 and do it all the time, especially now that it's pretty hot outside. Thinking of getting it cut short again, but nervous to take the plunge (it's been years since I've had it any shorter than chin to shoulder length).

He's just a smart ***. He dabbles in stand up on the side. He never means anything derogatory or meanly though.
