I'm looking for a therapist right now, but am a student technically and share insurance with my parents. I would like to do this without them knowing. I really just can't afford therapy unless I find a therapist that takes insurance. And with the insurance covering most of the costs, my pockets are pretty empty right now. Where do I start? I don't even know where to begin looking.
Thanks in advance to anyone who helps

You said you are a student, does your school/university offer counseling services? Oftentimes universities offer free or low cost therapy. Some are short term but if this is the case they should be able to refer you elsewhere.
You could call the insurance company and ask for their policy for mental health coverage and a list of in network or covered providers. I am not very familiar with insurance though and don't know if it would show up on some sort of statement or anything that your parents would see. Good luck!

Most schools and Universities have counseling services! Most are free (I know mine is free at my university!)

Visit this website. You can filter it by gender of therapist, what insurances they take, and what their specialties are. Good luck!
