So I told T at the end of last week's session... about the fantasy of the little girl... the little girl in the frilly white dress, sucking her fingers, who toddles toward T, for a momemnt stands beside where T's sitting, then lays her head in T's lap. T looks down, smiles, carresses the little girl's hair, cheek, back... the little girl just closes her eyes dreamily and takes it in... feels it.
It feels so good, I sobbed as I told T. Sometimes the little girl wanders in during session and I can't ignore her; she draws me to her. I feel like I have a foot in both worlds.. So, I told T, sometimes when you ask me what it is I'm thinking about, 'where' I am just then.... that's where I am. I'm the little girl. 2 more days til T again. ![]() |

Brrrrave! I'm really proud of you that you told her that. The more I progress in therapy, the more I realize how important it is for T to know "where you go" sometimes during session. It's really great that she knows now so that she can reach you in that place as well. It's all part of the here-and-now. Good for you.

Hi echoes. I so understand what youre saying. Thats how I feel often in a session. I feel just like a little girl. Talking about my childhood seems to draw me back to the feelings I had then. Sometimes its hard to cope with. 5 weeks down now.......aaarggghh.....a lifetime!

ECHOES, thanks for sharing about your little girl. The image of her in the white dress with head on T's lap was wonderful.
If she shows up in therapy with you, there is a reason. I am so glad you are acknowledging her presence. When I first began with my current T, one of my little girl ego states was very prominent. I had dreams of her coming with me to therapy, and sometimes she came there with me in real life too. T would ask me what she was doing. Or saying. And then I would report back to him what she said. Or he would have me ask her certain things. It was like a 3 way conversation, but it all went through me (the adult me). I also learned to rescue her when she needed help. Therapy can be amazing. I feel happy for you that you are so connected with your little girl. (((hugs)))

If I am off topic, delete me..
I am curious as what that means when the little girl shows up in therapy. This is the "inner child" right? I too, experienced a "thought" I guess a child me, twirling around in a dress, asking the T if he thought my dress was pretty. Another time, a lil girl, which does not look like me has long dark fluffy pigtails, playing T, sitting in Ts chair, with paper and pencil, wearing over sized black glasses. I figured I had a wild imagination and laughted at myself for these fleeing moments. I never told the T. I did not understand why it happened in his office tho. I for the life of me can not make reason of why a childish me, inner childish thoughts popped into therapy. |

Wow Echoes, that is an amazing discovery about yourself and even more amazing/brave for you to share it with your T.

Echoes, I love this. I have done some inner child work with T and have taken my little girl to a safe place while in his office. I have also told him recently that when I don't bring my little girl with me, or don't give her voice, it is more difficult to connect with him. I'm so glad you shared this with T. ![]() ![]()
