T and I both havd insanely busy schedules. we are also on opposite sides of the world. so when she or i get a chance to call the other, we do. or we might text the othe say "can you talk!" it could be five a.m or five p.m. We have had sessions that started at midnight when we could manage to connect in person because we happen to be in the same country at the same time. so there is no schedule at all- for us, its just not possible.
Thanks for this!

My T manages his own schedule. For the first ~4 months, we determined the day and time of each session weekly. In the past ~2 months I have a slot for the same time and day every week. I was fine with both styles but asked the T to find a set time after a while so that we don't need to deal with that at the end of every session. I also ended up liking it better than scheduling all over the map. He is always responsive and flexible to re-schedule when something gets in the way.
Thanks for this!

When I first saw T we did week to week scheduling, but after maybe two months he suggested a regular time slot. I really like having a predictable time.

My T did her own schedule. I had my own slot most of the time with changes here and there. If she needed to see me on a different day sometimes it was first come for serve but then she had those that she would give them the ability to choose first. I know when I started due to my schedule she would let me choose first. That's what she verbalized. I had my time slot but then if she needed to change days then things got a little hairy and she woul forgot if she scheduled me or not although she has a book.
Thanks for this!

My therapist has said before that he thinks with anxiety we need more information, and that helps the anxiety. I have issues with anxiety all across the board, and knowing that I can rely on a weekly session with my therapist helps my anxiety to be less overall. When he cancels a session or I have to postpone it for a few days, I fall apart. I spend the interim constantly trying to stay calm. That's why I'm wondering if the people who don't mind the unpredictability don't have anxiety.
I have a Dx of GAD, but the weekly changing appointments for a year didn't bother me unless there just wasn't a spot for me at all. My anxiety actually kicked in when T wanted to give me a set time (probably because I didn't see it coming and still don't know why she changed it).

I do suffer from anxiety but I don't have a problem with needing different times. Maybe because it was me who initially said I needed this because of work commitments. If my T was always changing when I wanted same time then it would probably cause me issues.
