Has anyone here had their T wink at them. My T gave me a slow wink the other day when I looked at her while she was sitting beside me, what might that convey? Winks are pretty ambiguous.

All I know about winking is that when a cat does it it means they like you. (I never wink, to me it feels totally unnatural.)

I hate winks. What the hell are they supposed to mean apart from sexual innuendo? A female coworker winks at me all the time. Makes me wanna tear her frikken hair out!!!

I haven't been comfortable seeing other people wink since the 2008 VP debate.

I think the last time someone winked at me was my adviser in college. It was clearly affectionate.

Winks are so...flirty? Like emoticons it may be best if therapists did not use them. Too ambiguous in meaning. It would mean anything from "I like you too" to "transference? No problem. I've got this. "

In the culture I was raised in, winking is generally a way of affectionately showing the winker isn't taking themselves too seriously. I've never seen them used to communicate sexual intent - I'm sort of intrigued by the idea that some people use them that way! Where I'm from they are too light-hearted to be seductive.

It can still mean you don't take yourself too seriously, but it's definitely become sexualized or flirty in the US these days.

Of course, it could also mean there's sand in your eye.

I presume the speed of the wink might go some ways in helping accurately differentiate?

in group my T somtimes is looking at me, and i look at him and he smiles. hes never winked i dont think. he has thrown a pillow at me, but i think thats different.. -_-

Winks are weird. Very few people can pull them off.

My T sometimes does. Recently I gave her a few M&M brownies because I made them as a treat for finishing Fall semester. She mentioned once how she LOVES M&M brownies, so I brought a few right before Christmas. She winked at me after saying she'd snack on them later. Have no idea why she winked. It's just one of those things she occasionally does.

I think a wink can just be a small gesture of affection, something light hearted.. my therapist has winked at me on occasions, it was very appropriate. I have even winked at her a couple of times. ; )

Yeah, was definitely a "hello there" slow wink, seemed kind of flirty and friendly if I say so myself.
