I am swinging into hypomania. I know I should be calling my psychiatrist. Instead I am prograstinating. Frankly, I don't feel 'worthy' of the interruption into his scheduled day.

Your experiences?

I don't have a psychiatrist, so I don't know what the differences are, but my therapist builds in time in his day to return phone calls. It's a very normal part of a workday for many working people to return telephone calls to people who pay them regularly. My therapist would also strongly prefer that I call for help rather than get worse.

Do you think you could look at it as a good way of taking care of yourself, and that you psychiatrist would probably rather help you early, when it's most likely to be very effective?

Be proactive. Saves a world of crisis later. Your psychiatrist will appreciate you not waiting until things get out of hand.

Heck, I lost my checkbook yesterday and had a meltdown. I waited and tried to calm myself. Ended up calling T. She helped and she didn't mind.

I vote for calling your psychiatrist. You are worth it.

Nothing wrong with calling your doctor! You've posted before about burdening providers. Maybe it feels that way, but they likely don't evaluate your worth when responding.

Wondering how he can help with hypomania though. Does your hypomania turn into mania? Did you run out of your script? Perhaps it has passed already. Hope so.
