She is the only one in the huge practice that my pdoc is in that takes my insurance (maybe that should have been the first clue).

This woman is crass & vulgar. She did 99% of the talking. Both of my parents died last year at age 59 (both of them). My father died in his bed. No autopsy was done. I don't know how the coroner decided, but she had arterioslerotic heart disease as the cause, and it made sense.

This woman literally spent 45 minutes playing CSI and not believing that is how he really died. She asked if it was possible that he killed himself and the police covered it up, or if he had enemies and was poisoned. (Neither of those were possible).

I left there bawling. I don't know why I didn't say something except maybe I was in shock. I feel like turning her in to someone - that was awful!

I think this is a case that I like to call The shrink that needed a shrink. Wow. I am so sorry that happened to you. That was not proffesional in my judgement at all. i live in OH. I don't know what part you are in but maybe I could help you find someone else that takes your insurance.

i would never go back to her, if i were you. ever. hope you can find another t. i'm sorry you had to go through that. i understand, since i had a pdoc who intimidated the heck out of me by forcing the subject of electroconvulsive therapy with me. we almost got into a war of words about it. i was messed up after leaving the appointment, and had to get another pdoc.

Ohhh... what a terrible experience.... such a insenistive, clod of a therapist... and a clod of a person even.. how dare she..

She needs helps....

I have an eating disorder and I once went to a therapist that had a worse time of her eating disorder than I did..I felt like she should be "paying" me for helping her..

Please keep trying for a new therapist.. there are some good ones out there... so very sorry that you had to go thru this rotten experience...

How awful of this therapist to infer things about your father's death. A therapist should NEVER impose such suggestions to a patient, it could do a lot of harm.

Can you go outside of your pdoc's practice to find a therapist? Are you going talk to your pdoc about this at all?

I'm so sorry.

ab1018, I'm so sorry you had to experience this. I hope you will report this therapist's behavior to the head of the clinic. This sort of thing shouldn't be kept secret so that steps can be taken to prevent her from providing damaging therapy to other clients. Sometimes it takes a long paper trail to get rid of these people. I hope you will add to her trail.

So that you don't run the risk of further encounters with this therapist, can you seek a therapist from outside of this practice? Is it essential that your therapist and pdoc be part of the same practice? Does ;your insurance cover any therapists outside of this practice? It seems like your T and your pdoc could communicate with each other about your treatment, if need be, without being in the same practice. Good luck. ((((hugs))))

I am seeing my pdoc Monday, so I will tell him. I've been frustrated with him too - he always keeps me waiting for 30-60 minutes in the waiting room.

I was thinking about some kind of medical board. Yes, I can see someone outside of their practice - it was just easy because it is close and she has evening appointments. She is a freak - I think the reason I didn't leave was that I was in shock.

I thank God it didn't happen right after he died - that may have been enough to put me over the edge.

Well she sure doesn't sound like a good fit for you and what you're looking for. I can imagine how frustrated and disappointed you must have felt after that encounter!

Do you have a preference to the type of therapy you would like to have? Here's a site that had a lot of information that I like: www.guidetopsychology.com.

If you can you go outside your insurance and pay on your own, it is so nice to not have the distraction and interference of insurance being involved in your treatment.

You won't believe the new therapist I saw last night... You won't believe the new therapist I saw last night... You won't believe the new therapist I saw last night... You won't believe the new therapist I saw last night...

I'm so sorry ab101 for your experience with this new T. She
was totally out of line with kind of reasoning. She's very unprofessional in my opinion. She sounds mean hearted
to me. Her panties are in a twist.

Go to someone else and report her to your Ins. co. you'll get more out of it if you do. They can hurt her more than a board of her peers. They're like drs. ever try to sue one of them???? IMPOSSIBLE.

Anyway, your carrier can black list certain individuals that take advantage of their patients by leaving them with a bad
taste in their mouths. They can make sure none of their clients go to her. That will hit her where it hurts!!!! $$$$$

Good luck in the meantime. By all means, you deserve a better T than that.

Really good idea, if you report her you could save others more vulnerable. Its horrific to think the damage that could be done by people like that. She needs to bump against consequences to wake her up. Thank God you've got the sense to see it like it is.

Personally, if it were my Dad's death that she was talking about like that. I would have gotten up and knocked her out cold. And just walked out! They would have found her eventually, with a slight concussion! But not nearly as damaged as the words that she damaged you with! But that's just me! IMO!
I wouldn't let her slaughter my Dad's memory like that! You won't believe the new therapist I saw last night... You won't believe the new therapist I saw last night... You won't believe the new therapist I saw last night... You won't believe the new therapist I saw last night...
I'm sorry she did that to you, that's horrible! You won't believe the new therapist I saw last night...
I wish you the best in finding a better T. that actually knows what their doing! You won't believe the new therapist I saw last night... You won't believe the new therapist I saw last night...
