Yes argonautomobile that rings true for me. He's always alluding to difficult patients earlier on his Saturday's. Nothing identifying. Still, I don't want to be his oasis all the time. My takeaway from these posts is that I need to be more active telling him what is bothering me.

Thanks for this. I think the allusions are pretty telling. I wonder if he even realizes he's treating your sessions as his oasis.

For about two months, I was the last appointment of the day on Friday. I had a nice time, and I won't say they were entirely unhelpful-if nothing else I learned to be more active in session (to use your words). Still, I get the frustration, especially if you're used to getting more "help" from a T.

Kashi sounds pretty cool. I hope you two are able to work through this.

My last therapist was like this. (The others were kind of like this too, except I liked them less.)

Friendly, pleasant, easy to talk to, able to understand what my issues were (usually), able to explain things so I understood, took my insurance....

... but didn't actually help.

It may be an irrational fear or maybe not, that my t and I have great rapport but aren't really getting anywhere. I know it is still a fairly new relationship. He will never be Sparky, my old t with a very take charge kind of style I grew to love. Kashi is very laid back and I fear he treats me like a friend too much. I do get something out of seeing him but right now that consists of pleasant and funny conversation, comfort and consistency. Not bad things it just doesn't seem like enough.

Thoughts welcome!
How long you been with him. What's the therapist orientation. Or maybe you just don't therapy dunno.
Not all my sessions are intense nor have immediate insights. But then I'm in psychoanalytic therapy. Everything has meaning.

Have you considered your expectations? what if you were to write them down. What do you want to achieve and what do you expect a session to look like. Where do you fit into this in terms of your part. I recommend spending the first few minutes of each visit discussing with your therapist/psychiatrist an agenda.

Thanks mouse-

Only seen him five months but I am not new to therapy. He is mostly dbt with Cbt which is odd because he doesn't seem like it.
