My son learned to read at 2. My daughter and I both three (knew letters at 2).
I read Enid Blyton for the first time with my daughter. I love it, especially the Magic Faraway Tree. My Dad read to me every night too. But I wasn't allowed Enid Blyton because my Dad's a socialist and Enid Blyton is too elitist for him (and my Dad thinks she was a racist too). |

I've never heard of Enid Blyton.
I love the Madeline L'Engle series that started with "A Wrinkle in Time". I didn't read them until I was in college, but I love them. I just found out right now (cuz I googled to get the correct spelling of her name) that there is a 5th book in the series I haven't read!! now i must go to the library! |

I get very excited to start a book but I am never able to finish them. Last book I read that I started and was able to finish was a book called Nannies, The Parents They Work For and The Children They Love. I think I was able to read that in its entirety because it really put what I do into perspective and served as a guide for me. The book focused on Live in nannies and I'm not a live in, but I was still able to apply it to my work life. I read that about 3 years ago and that was the last time I read a whole book.

A colleague of mine works on how book editions have changed in response to social changes. Blyton's books have had the racism edited out in the latest editions. The one book of hers I read was about the black doll who wanted his skin turned pink. No idea how they handled that one.

I just found one of Blyton's books as a free nook book so I downloaded it. It's called Five on a Treasure Island.

I get that. It's not a show for everyone. I started streaming it because I heard about from adults and teens alike. It was on a whim for me, not something I actually planned to stream, but I'll finish it probably next weekend.

At times I felt it came off a bit cheesy which is an instant turn off for me

I felt that way with some scenes as well. I just thought maybe it's because I've outgrown that part of my life. Like I have nieces and nephews that are pre-teens and teenagers and while I love them I can't relate to teenagers anymore.

Sunrise this morning over the wall in my backyard. It was beautiful! I slept SOOO good last night 1) because of doing my shamanic thing most of yesterday and 2) h and son were both gone for the night so I had the house to myself, so I woke up at 5 am wide awake! (too bad that never happens on a work day ha ha)

Hating today. Days like this I really blame myself for taking away whatever connection I had left with my family, even though holidays were never really special to me and I work most of them.
I had to wake up at 4:30 to drive an hour to work by 6 so I really get to experience alllllll of today and allllllll of everyone else having things to do with other special people and being able to smell the fancy cuts of meat they can afford to be cooking. Special thought that came out of my very own brain, zooming down the highway just before dawn: "wow, check out this reverse sunset! Cool!" Oiii, sunrise. Sunrises are real things. Scoring high in the thought department today.

I just haven't figured out how to handle holidays yet, when is that going to happen?

Theoretically, sunrises are reverse sunsets, sunsets reverse sunrises. I think it's a clever way of putting it!
When I was a kid my mother and I had an ongoing argument about whether the old Roy Rogers logo was a sun setting, because he was a cowboy (me) or either, because how can you know for sure, really? (her). The older I get the more I appreciate her argument. |

As soon as I figure it out I'll let you know, though I have the opposite problem from you. My family didn't ever celebrate holidays, and so now that H and his family do, I'm trying to figure out how to participate without feeling awkward. No plans for today, though. H is dealing with some family drama, so we decided to opt out of Easter this year. |

I always thought one of the downsides to having children would be that I would have to do holidays and decorate and so forth.

Tried to watch Netflix series, then when a sequel comes out, i didn't remember the previuos one. Then sometimes I go back to watch the previous one, and I totally don't remember watching it, as if it was new. My memory problems cause a lot of problems, tremendously. The reading is the worst as I'm expected to do a lot of it for my job but can only scan things. I know depression and anxiety and poor sleep quality can lead to this. When I first tried TMS treatment, it helped with my cognitive problems a lot, but it didn't last long enough for me to know if it could have fixed it. And i was energized and wanted to do physical things and social things rather than be in my head. So glad yours got better! Maybe a combo of both. Would be interested in what med you are taking if you feel like sharing. |

I started watching this really good movie about communist Romania (?) over Christmas, but I can only watch for 5 minutes or so, and then I need a long break (like several weeks) before resuming. |
