(((jdna)))

I know that feeling of wishing a place didn't exist or maybe the people didn't. I hope I didn't misquote you. I read it earlier and it is on my mind, as you are.

I understand.

Christmas morning, after the rest of the family had "opened" their stockings, my youngest asked me where my stocking was. I shrugged. (Youngest is a recent college graduate-I definitely could have hinted that someone needed to get me a stocking, but I didn't and was fine with that).

The next oldest has let me know in no uncertain terms that being adult, out of college, employed, married, homeowner has no bearing on the Easter Bunny, and that chocolate in a basket is expected on Easter. Unfortunately her idea of acceptable chocolate has gotten quite a bit pricier than when she was in kindergarten.

So the youngest showed up for Easter with a big box of Stam chocolate for me. She claims it makes up for no Christmas stocking. I am well pleased.

*passes around delicious chocolates*

Thank you for sharing to drumming. It's very comforting in some way. Over never heard drumming before and I'm not sure I understand it.

My son is on board with an "easter basket" well the chocolate anyway... the day after when it's 50% off (now that he's working and learning how fast the money goes away)

With a bit longer of drumming time.... The drumbeat alters your brain waves to like when you're dreaming, except you're awake, so you can interact with dreams or ask questions of your deeper self, stuff like that. I've written poems while someone else drums. It's a perfect complement to the deep work we do in therapy for me.

(eta: i kept it short on purpose because i don't want to cause anybody discomfort. there's all kinds of shamanic drumming recordings online that go all different lengths i've even seen some of over an hour!! but i would NOT feel comfortable putting anything like that out there, because i think journeying for the first time is best experienced live with someone who can explain the process, etc beforehand. So that's how come I kept it short.)

So it's kind of like hypnosis or an altered state?

I dissociate very easily. My counselor has helped me find a safe place when I was triggered in his office. My safe place, then, was my trail. He talked me there and I could see it. I could feel the sunshine on my back and I could actually see the sunshine coming through the leaves of the trees hitting the concrete. Then it was gone. I came back from there to myself.

The tones of the drumming reminds me of a humming thing that I do when I want to pray but I don't have words. I hope that's not too weird.

I think the sound of just one drum (or just one of any instrument) would eventually cause me to snap. I like the sound of multiple drums (especially the Taiko drumming) but I don't think I could write or anything while it was going on.

That makes me think of the Cinnamon Roll I got from Seattle Drip Saturday.

It. Was. Amazing!!! Seriously yummy!

I could enjoy one right now, but I really need to go to bed.

Thank goodness all I have tomorrow at work is a (ridiculously early) committee meeting and a test to give, because sleep is not coming for me tonight.

Ativan usually helps but all it has done is dull my mind enough that I can't focus on anything like reading.

I had a dream last night that I was sitting in a classroom with my Pdoc and 3 other people in the background. I said to her in the dream- I haven't been able to see you, but I need all my meds back. Life was more tolerable with meds. She said okay Jersey. Here are the scripts for the meds. That will be $80.00 for coming today. I said oh, to talk with you for 3 minutes was $80.00. She said yes. Then I woke up. Weird a s s dream. Even though it was just a dream, Now I'm thinking of lots of things I could do if I had an extra 80 bucks besides pay a Pdoc. It's spring. Flea Market!

I dreamt my mom died. How appropriate. The kardashians were there..lol

edit: i say how appropriate because i worried i was making her sad and disappointed by leaving yesterday. then i dreamed she died. like i killed her because i made her sad!

my T was there too. i dont know why the kardashians were. people were like auctioning off my mom's things. i got the most prized possession, which was some really old game. and the kardashians wanted it because it was worth money
