Hi all
My care coordinator who is an occupational therapist told me she was leaving the service 3 weeks ago. Our final appointment was last Wednesday 17 May. She said she would write me a goodbye letter but told me she will email it because she had not finished writing it. That evening I emailed her to ask if I could add her to Facebook. She has not replied. So I emailed her Monday 22 May to ask when she would be sending the goodbye letter and I haven't heard anything back. She said she checks her email every day and her last day at the mental health team was last Friday so I don't understand why she hasn't emailed it to me yet. What shall I do? I appreciate any advice, thanks. |

Hey Rmn2016, sorry to hear that you're yet to hear back! My best advice is to wait it out a little longer.. If they said they'll email, chances are, they will. It can be excruciating waiting for a reply, or an email like this. But often there is not a lot we can do, other than wait it out.. My best advice is to find a way to keep yourself busy and keep your mind off it. The more you ponder what is going to be in the email, and whether you will get one, the harder it will be.. Have you got any hobbies that can keep your mind occupied? Like reading or something..
Sorry I don't have a better answer ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for your reply.I just received the goodbye letter via post. She says it has been a pleasure getting to know me and working with me over the past year. That I engaged really well in the sessions and have been a joy to work with. It doesn't change the fact she has left and I'm feeling low and terrible about it

Are you using her work e-mail? If so, it's possible she no longer has access to it. I hope you hear something back soon. And I could see her declining the Facebook friend option--that could cross boundaries. I know my T has said that even after a client stops seeing her, she couldn't ever be in a friendship with them, and I think Facebook would count as that. Some therapists have a 2-year rule for friendships, but my T is a social worker, and she said for them, it's supposed to be a lifetime ban on friendships, though she said contact is OK in the form of e-mail updates.

Yes it is her work email. She said she would be using the same email address at her new job
