It was a long day and we're all tired, but it was a truly beautiful day. The funeral service was perfect and really was Mom through and through. We've had a wonderful time reconnecting with relatives that we haven't seen for literally decades but who traveled across country because that is just how much my mom was loved.

Tonight we hit a local Mexican food place ( this is deep South Texas so it is REAL Mexican food) that was serving $2.00 beer and margaritas. We ordered 4 botanas platters to feed 16 people and probably took home enough left overs to feed 16 more. We made a toast to Mom and sang "Happy Birthday" to her because today would have been her 83rd birthday.

Dad asked us girls to go through Mom's jewelry and take what we wanted. She not only had her own, but a great deal belonging to her mother and Dad's mother. She also had hand embroidered hankerchiefs that were made for her in the 1940s by her great aunt. I picked some jewelry pieces and hankies for myself and for my daughter-in-law. Mom was also a doll collector (not toys) and had picked out dolls for each of my sons and all of the grandkids. We left her own baby doll that she was given in 1937 for Dad for now. She is particularly special.

Tomorrow I need to find her grandparent's high school autograph books and school newspapers (from the late 1800's). I know she wanted me to have those because they are so literary. The handwriting is artwork unto itself, and the newspapers are fascinating. Because the stapler hadn't been invented yet, one of them is sewn together and the other one is held together with thin nails threaded through the spine.

I am happy to hear it was a good celebration of your mother's life.

I find it oddly appealing. My gf loves it, Brick is her favorite. I like the girl, she tries SO HARD! I like the mom better here than on Raymond.

Well, I sent a care package to my brother in jail through a company approved by the jail. I also ordered a baseball brain teaser book for him off amazon to be shipped directly to the jail (the only way he is allowed to receive books). That will give him something to do/read and snack on since jail meals are probably gross.

I am going to the post office tomorrow to see if they have plain white pre-metered regular sized postcards to write to my brother. That is all the jail in my county will allow to be mailed in. No envelopes or stamps. No stickers on post cards. Very picky in my county, but I guess you really do have very few rights/privileges in jail. I just find it odd that when my uncle was in jail in the next county over, we could write to him on legal sized paper and shove it in a normal envelope with a stamp. Oh well...I guess it is up to each sheriff.

I watched a few minutes once...isn't it just Malcolm in the Middle all over again? At least I got the overwhelming sense of watching MM.

I liked malcolm! It had a sense of anarchy about it. Cloris Leachman was in it sometimes.

Do I have to understand what you're talking about? No? Good!

*serves coffee and cake*

Gonna go to the doctors this afternoon because of my ankle. Last time I had to leave after waiting for > 1h (without seeing anyone) because I wouldn't have made it in time for T otherwise. I take bets on how long I'll have to wait today.

Oh, couch, I had another stupid dream. My unconscious is still trying to tell me to stop being such an idiot...

I was with a T - not my T, nothing like him (my mind still refuses to properly represent him, like it's scared to), but the same situation, I was in love with him...

(this might be triggering for those who have been abused by their therapists)

Possible trigger:

I know, brain. I know my fantasies are bulls**t. I know it's not really what I want. No need to rub it in.

Morning couch.

I am up and showered and ready to leave for t in an hour. I still need to take my morning meds (I failed to take my evening ones last night as it was after midnight by the time I remembered). I just need to go out to the kitchen to get a drink to take them.

T will feel weird. Been 6 weeks (due to her schedule being booked and my having to cancel once) since last time I went. Had a hard 6 weeks. I see pdoc this week too. That appt is on Thursday. Preparing myself now to discuss a solution to the whole side effect on a med that is working fairly well thing.

Well, I need to brush my hair, get some shoes on, take my meds, and then get on the road to T. Need to stop by the bank first to get out my copayment (T only takes cash or check...no credit cards...and I am running low on checks and need to order more...so cash it is today).

Thx... Only had to wait for 50minutes, I guess that's good. Gave me a perscription for more pain meds and a prohibition to use my crutches. "Try to walk normally, even if it hurts.". I mean, I'm always the first to complain about pain, so I guess that's the right thing to do...

I'm confused - did they explain why they wanted you to walk normally? Isn't pain while already being on crutches bad?
