I'm working 50 hours this week. 8am-6pm Monday-Friday so if you don't see me, that's where I'll be! I'll catch ya all when my marathon week is over. I'll try to peek in during breaks and stuff.

Yay! Go you! What are you having for lunch?

I am tired and too hot but happy because my flatmate just went out and got me an After Eight milkshake. It is really good.

Subway, because nothing else sounded good. Kind of jealous of a milkshake though.

I'm jealous of the milkshake too. Trying to watch my weight and sugar intake.

Mm, well this is less a milkshake really and more a... bucket-full of mint choc-chip ice cream.

It is totally delicious though.

I am not very good at balancing my sugar intake.

(That's an understatement...)

Btw, thanks (I think), JD and daisy -- I was just considering getting lunch and now, I need to exert non-existent willpower to not get a Cookout banana milkshake.

That article doesn't even mention the best part. I usually get a barbecue sandwich with the coleslaw, double hush puppies, and a milkshake for like, $6.50

Happy Father's Day to any dads on the forum.

We're doing Father's Day is shifts today because the guys are all working or going to church at different times. So this morning it was just my husband, our middle son, and I for brunch at a good Mexican food place, and here in a few hours we'll head out again for supper with the other two sons. Something tells me I'm going to go over my allotted weight watchers points for today.

I just spoke to my dad. My nephew drove down (3 hour drive) just to have lunch with Dad and my sister. Dad sounded SO much better today. He was so tired when we were down there for the funeral. He sounded much perkier and more like himself on the phone than I've heard him really in months. I'm going down in mid-July to stay with him for about 10 days while my sister and nephew are traveling out of the area. Dad and I are going to dog-sit and probably work on going through Mom's clothes, etc. and getting them to charities. It will keep us busy.

This week my youngest and I were at his college orientation. We both walked about 10 miles in those two days. He is registered, and between the college tuition fund we invested in, his scholarships, and his grants, it looks like he won't have to pay out a dime this first year; no loans necessary, and technically he doesn't "have" to get a work/study job although he qualifies for that also but he plans to anyway in order to start saving up for later. Woohoo! He's taking 9 classes: 7 of those are music courses. It's only 16 hours because some of those are 1 and 2 hour courses, but he is going to be busy. There is a reason music majors live on campus. I think he's getting excited about the prospect of college life now. We've started buying what he needs for his dorm, so he'll be ready to go.

I had to laugh. He's going to what used to be entirely a women's university. They started enrolling men about 20 years ago, but it still retains "women" in its name so the male enrollment is only about 12%. He said at the activities fair he was bombarded by other male students trying to get him to pledge the few fraternities they have (he's not interested); and his take-away was "Mom, I'd say at least half of the guys are LGBT. I'll be in good company." LOL! One thing for sure, the guys on campus do get noticed; it will be hard for him to fade into the woodwork.

I'm finally starting to recover. I was so emotionally and physically exhausted when we got back from Mom's funeral, but I'm finally started to catch up with myself. Next week I'm at an Advanced Placement conference all week. Not looking forward to the daily commute (it will run easily 90 minutes each way every day), but I am looking forward to the conference. This is always a professionally energizing one.

Mmmm

I like Carolina style hotdogs and hamburgers with chili and Cole slaw

But hotdogs should never have ketchup on them.
