I dreamt that I was supposed to have an appointment with T at night. He called me in the afternoon and when I picked up the phone and said, "Hello?" and T said, "Bad news." My heart sank because I figured he was cancelling at the last minute. But he didn't. He said, "You might want to stop by before your session today.... to get the colored pencils. It could be a good idea" I was so excited that he told me to come by before my session... I would get to go there twice in one day... so I didn' t understand why he said 'bad news.' I didn't ask him. I also didn't ask him what I should do when I got there-- ask for him? grab the pencils and leave? So I went there and I felt really confused because I didn't know what to do.... I just sat in the waiting room b/c I wasn't sure if I was supposed to ask to see him or not.

The "bad news" is you have to ask for what you want.

iloveyou, lol

i couldn't figure that out. i knew that the dream obviously had to do with me not asking for what i want, but i couldn't figure out what was the "bad news."

still trying to figure out about the colored pencils.

"bad news" maybe cause he was asking you to come earlier than the appointment..& that could have been inconvenient to you...so he didnt want to bother you...sorry i might not be the best person to interpret your dream as English is not my native language....

Thanks Pinksoil cause as i was reading your post i realized I had a dream last night about my therapist..!!! free moments together..
so we were on the phone chatting and she had given me a video I was watching at the same time and it was a kind of soap in which she was! But she was a bit different : her hair was not the same colour & she looked a bit older...
i am definitely not gonna tell her this dream cause i guess i 'd sound really stupid ..on tv!! I understand just now why she was older in my dream : last time we spoke about time flying, growing older, etc.. but I remember that I would not dare telling her "oh, it's you in the film" & stupid detail : there was somebody named "Sue" in the film - i dont kno what to make of that lol as i dont know any Sue....& i don't think i'm gonna check with her if i have psychic skills & ask "Is there a Sue in your life??!"

& Pink, what comes to mind when you think of colored pencils?

omg yes iloveyou too hahahah.

also-- colored pencils are very significant of my internship. and last nite at school i was telling my professor how i use art to help my patients with psychoses express and organize themselves in a nonverbal manner.

maybe in the dream t was giving me the chance to express myself through other methods because he knows i have a hard time talking about things and i like to convey meaning through music, poetry, and art. but i didn't take the chance--i still couldn't ask him how to get to those pencils.

tomorrow in t, i am gonna get those damn pencils. Dream thank you to all who helped me interpret my dream. wow, i love dream work.

yeah.

yeah!

"Colored" pencils instead of black and white thinking? Nonverbal versus verbal, artwork versus "writing". As a child you took the #2 pencil route instead of the colored pencil/crayon one?

Dream Perna, you are amazing. Thank you.

I can't wait to tell T about this tomorrow. This was what seemed to be the most simplistic dream I ever had about him with the least amount of information-- and I can't believe all that came out of it.

Maybe we should have a Dream Forum? I think that would be great-- for those who are interested in dream work to post their dreams and the members can help with interpretation... especially since a lot of us know enough about each others' situations to be able to draw some accurate conclusions... I know that having you guys add your thoughts along with my own, really helped me to make sense out of this dream.

Pinksoil, I would love to have a dream forum! I love dreamwork and I just don't have time in my therapy sessions to devote to dreams. It would be great to have a dedicated place to share dreams here.

It might be easier to start a Dreams subforum rather than a forum. I have noticed some opposition on PC to starting new forums as some feel it makes the forum list (front page of the "community" section of PsychCentral) too long. But a subforum doesn't take up any extra space on the front page. Recently, we started a subforum for Divorce & Separation in the Relationships forum. Go here to see how it works. That format seems to be working well. There is also a subforum called The Garden, in the Dissociative Disorders forum.

this is exactly what I was thinking, when I first read the dream.

Colored pencils to fill in the outline--give it context.

I thought bad news because he wasn't there to give you the color--you had to get them yourself.

Dream

Good luck tomorrow.

I was having nothing but anxiety dreams this morning so finally just got up instead. I was happily playing a great virtual game on a whole new type computer with new type software, etc. but then I gradually woke myself worrying about who I'd give my old computers to and how I'd get them cleaned up/hard drive erased, etc. :-(
