A new therapist contacted me and said she has "specialized training in the Comprehensive Resource Model, a cutting edge therapy modality based in mindfulness and neurobiology, allowing clients to face painful events in their lives without the risk of re-traumatization."

Anyone try this?

No , but I just checked it out and it looks interesting. A combination of modalities which I agree with - to get the mind body and brain. The mid brain looping is something I struggled with and had to work hard with with EMDR. But the newer forms of treatment for trauma are getting there - some people have such serious trauma that CBT won't really get to it. Are you going to see this T ?

I'm thinking about it; she only charges $50 a session, but she's an intern. I have a bit of dilemma with that as the last t who didn't work out is two years younger than I am and I just didn't feel like she knew what she was doing. This T does specialize in attachment, while the former one did not. I might try...

An intern that specializes in something? Not sure if I believe that. Not to say interns might not make good Ts (epsecially with proper supervision) - just - specializing? IMO that's more for people who have actually completed their basic training, then had additional training in the subject, disorder or modality they specialize in.

"...without the risk of re-traumatization."

Given what I've been through in life, I would never take the above statement as absolute truth. Even if I whole heartedly embrace the new therapy.

I would be cautious and sceptical about any model that promises to treat very difficult problems with simple methods and quickly. It's a simple truth that there aren't quick and easy solutions to complex and difficult problems.
