My T won't accept gifts but won't know who sent it.

I'm angry at him and grateful for all he's done but now is terminating me because he has taken me as far as he can and suggested a new therapist.

I'm such a mess right now but it brings me a bit of sadistic joy to know how confused he is right now.

Oh no, I'm so sorry.

But my weird voyeuristic self wants to know what you bought him, if you don't mind sharing.
Thanks for this!

My long term t once got a bunch of subscriptions for fitness and low fat cooking magazines. He said he thought it was from an angry ex patient (old t used to be heavy but lost lots of weight)

*starts to consider possible gifts for Smaug*

But, could he not just call Amazon and ask who the sender is?

Good question! I wonder if Amazon would tell. I know with books, even kindle books, there's an option to send anonymously.

I know this because a friend of mine organized a book club where each person was randomly assigned another person to send a book to, but the sender stayed anonymous so the recipient's experience of the book wouldn't be influenced by the identity of the sender. But not knowing the identity of the sender was part of the game so I doubt anyone called Amazon to ask. I wonder if Amazon would tell. It's easy enough to test though.

I hate to burst anyone's bubble here, but speaking from personal experience, yes, amazon will tell you who the sender is. The situation was a little bit different so I could be wrong for your case--but when my son was born we received a baby gift addressed directly to him, it was shipped from amazon but didn't have a card. I called and amazon and at first said they could only speak to the receipient. I then explained the receipient was two weeks old and couldn't come to the phone. . Amazon then looked up the sender. So just an FYI. Hopefully your therapist likes the book.

See, now, when I got a random gift for my baby, they WOULDN'T tell me who sent it!

I know it's kind of a fun joke but honestly, sending stuff anonymously could go really wrong. You don't know what's going on in their lives or with their other clients, you could send something that seems totally innocent and they think it's a threat from a past stalker or whatever... It just seems like a bad idea. Personally I'd think it was really creepy if I got an anonymous gift like that.

I'm thinking of sending him something, but it probably won't be anonymous.

I agree. On my birthday last week, I received a gift of chocolates with no sender information. I was TERRIFIED! I was stalked a few years ago, and was afraid they were from them. Or maybe a new stranger or former student was watching me? I had no idea! Finally, I found out they were from a friend and I felt safe again-- but receiving anonymous gifts is not a joke. It is not fun. It can be really scary!
Thanks for this!

I think it is well played, also. I hope that the guilt eases. It's Ts problem if if freaks T out, not yours. It's not like it was something threatening and it (as another poster said) is better than a brick through a window.

I think it is fine to imagine T trying to figure out who sent it and why and feeling some happiness about that.
Thanks for this!
