We have LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker). I have this vague feeling Social Workers have more flexibility and are perhaps more valued. But I feel inclined slightly more to LPC's (I worked as a proto-social worker for a short time.) My insurance also takes psychiatric nurses. I would prefer a PsyD (PHD's spend more time training in research than counseling), but there are very few who take my insurance. I feel like a PsyD would have a broader knowledge beyond counseling, but actually it could be that a master's level has had more outside- from-academia time and inclination so might be broader after all.
Thanks for this!
