I've heard good things about it, but it was all from sponsors, so I take it with a grain of salt.
I tried it once (free trial) and didn't care for it. The therapist they matched me with spoke in cliches and didn't seem like she was listening to me. But I didn't give it much of a chance. I also was seeing my T in person at the time, I was just curious about the site.
Now that I am in a situation where I won't be able to see my T until August, but I am seriously struggling right now, I am considering trying the website again. Has anyone tried it, and are you willing to share your experiences? Is it worth the money?

I tried it. I live in a rural area and I wanted a therapist who specializes in eating disorders. They matched me with one that did not. I'm pretty decent at expressing myself in writing, so I poured out my long sad story of a lifelong struggle with eating. I told her all the things I have tried, about when I was successful and when I wasn't. Her suggestion was "well have you tried eating more vegetables?" Seriously? Did she think that I had never thought of that? And besides that I was hiring a therapist, not a nutritionist.

So I asked to change therapists. The next one looked like she was about 15. She also didn't have any expertise in eating disorders. So I contacted the site and asked them what was going on. They promised that they had 2000 therapists to choose from...how come they couldn't find me one that had training in eating disorders? Well turns out that they have to match you with a therapist who lives in your state. And I live in a small state, so there were only like four therapists total.

I did find their customer service very responsive. And they gave me my money back when I couldn't find a therapist that worked for me. I ended up finding one somewhat near me that I drive to see. I guess I would maybe try it again. I still think that it could maybe work for me with the right therapist. But I'd lie about where I live...

I tried Betterhelp because I needed to find someone to help with sexual problems. My primary therapist tried to help, but my issues regarding sex were out slightly of her training and experience. And rhee are no local therapists that specialized in sex therapy. I was assisted a therapist with a Sex Therapy background. She was a good therapist, but concentrated more on my anxiety and depression, and not sex issues. I already had a primary psychotherapist for that, which the Better help therapist was well aware. And the time between written communications did not work for me (it may for others).

Eventually I found a trained aasect trained Sex Therapist two hours away. Both her and my primary therapist compliment each other. I am still one messed up individual, but I now am optimistic for my mental and physical health.

That is the problem with online therapy. Due to licensing laws they HAVE to give you a therapist in your state.

I've not tried betterhelp.

I've tried talkspace and 7 cups though. I still use 7 cups if I need someone to listen to me, but I don't use the therapy services on either now

might try betterhelp

On two separate occasions I tried better help and was pleased with the 2 therapists they matched me with.

I tried 7 cups because I was curious about online therapy and they had a 3-day free trial. It was horrible.

I've heard good things about Talkspace. They hired Irvin Yalom as a consultant, and he helped with their training. I don't remember if he helped develop their training program or if he actually helped train some of their therapists.
Thanks for this!

I tried Talkspace too. I didn't like their platform as well as Better Help and chatting with my therapist felt like chatting with a 13-year-old. But I'm sort of old and don't always quite follow all the chat abbreviations. idk lol

Does anyone know the cost difference between Better Help and Talk Space? Are there free trials for both?
Maybeblue, I really appreciate that detail. I live in a rural state too, but I'm from a much larger state, so if I did betterhelp I would use that state. Thank you.

I tried Betterhelp and had an absolutely terrible experience. 100% not worth the money, 100% would not recommend.

Talkspace does the state thing too. So I'd use the bigger state. I think Talkspace was a little cheaper. I'm not sure either actually does a free trial any more. I had to pay for a month of each...but then I got my money back from Betterhelp when I didn't like the therapists. I didn't try to get my money back from Talkspace. I just talked to her for a month and then quit. On that program you talk to an intake therapist on chat who supposedly matches you to someone. I kind of think it's whoever has the opening first though. Betterhelp seemed to be random based on their little preliminary "quiz" they give you. It was pretty fast, so I think the computer did it.
Thanks for this!
