So I had my first appointment with my new T on Monday and it went pretty well . He seems nice and felt as comfortable as I could be expected in a first session. It was a long session (he told me the first one would be 90 mins and the rest the standard 50mins) but I think it went about 10mins over which I kind of liked because I didn't feel like I was being rushed out of there. Also, T told me has been in therapy himself and also that he is married and that his wife is a psychologist too. He said that if I end up seeing him for a while then I might see her because she is going to go into practice with him in the next few years. I really like that he was upfront about these things and that he seems willing to self-disclose a bit when necessary. In the two years I was seeing my last T she told me zero information about herself which I found really weird to be honest.

I don’t know why but I feel the need to defend old T. She was a good T and I was very fond of her despite the issues we may have had. The way things ended was pretty crappy but we went through a lot over the two years and there was some good stuff there.
Thanks for this!

So sorry if my response was rude. I really am glad that you got the most out of the last t relationship. You have the gift of flexibility, making an imperfect situation the best it could be
Thanks for this!

I like self disclosing T's too... even if it does confuse me sometimes

I'm glad it went well
Thanks for this!

Don’t worry, I didn’t think you were rude at all . I just wanted to clarify that she was a good T (out of all the ones I’ve seen I made the most progress with her) and I felt guilty that I may have portrayed her badly.

Also, I’ve never considered myself so I find that interesting.
Thanks for this!
