I believe my t is as authentic as her job permits. She doesn't compromise her core values or come off as trying to be someone in my life that she's not. She acts only as my professional therapist. I'm sure she does tailor parts of her personality and behaviors somewhat to make me more comfortable, but I don't see that as necessarily being inauthentic. I have to adjust parts of myself when I'm at work (and other places). I can be different and still be real. I believe my t is the same. She's a WYSIWYG. Sometimes that is difficult to deal with but I would not see a therapist who came off as being an inauthentic, lying sack of crap.

Baffling as all get out to me.
Hi, stopdog.

As to your first sentence, yes, absolutely can happen. If a parent or spouse is a narcissist—it can happen.
Thanks for this!
