oh ruh roh, i have some MAJOR medical fears because i was a preemie. (sorry rainbow, i will say this and not take over your thread) when i had to go to the hospital last year to remove a kidney stone, they almost couldn't do the procedure because my heart rate was so high. and this wasn't even surgery.

Thanks for this!

Oh man, count me in on the early medical trauma. Has had a profound effect on my life. Ruh roh and Velcro, your words really resonate with me. I don’t think there’s enough awareness of the psychological trauma that can be caused by medical treatments.

Rainbow, I am sorry you are going through this. I wish I had something useful to say. My therapist has pointed out how my mood plummets whenever I have a physical ailment, and how under threat I start to feel. Keeping that in mind helps me a little bit.

I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for this!

If you've been diagnosed as pre-diabetic, then your system is out of whack, despite some normal readings. You are probably to some degree insulin resistant and so you metabolize differently. That's what pre-diabetes indicates. Blood sugar swings influence panic attacks and panic attacks influence blood sugar. But as you seem determined to both pursue medical testing, yet disregard the results, not sure what resolution there can be. Good luck with it.
My A1C was normal so I'm not sure if I'm prediabetic anymore. I don't know if I'm hypoglycemic. I'm wondering because these "attacks" happened occasionally in the past when I hadn't eaten for a few hours. My doctor told me to be sure I ate lunch. Now I don't know if it's blood sugar or panic attacks or a weakness kind of attack. They seem different. My blood sugar has been normal when I felt weak and didn't know why. The shaky feeling kind of attack seems like it's related to blood sugar. I have to remember to take my monitor with me always. I never had these "attacks" so often, ever. It's since these medical problems and maybe the meds. It's very confusing to me. Like right now I feel weak and nauseous maybe because the sciatica pain is bad. I took Benadryl last night so I did sleep but woke up in pain. The Gabapentin did help but I have only one left to take because the Drs. agreed for me to stop it. Not sure if I can stick with that decision. Yuk. Sorry I shouldn't even be writing all this medical stuff in this forum! I need to talk to my PCP about all this again.

I'm so sorry Rainbow, please trust your instinct and keep trying to figure this out.
Just regular, extra strength. Thank you.

Thanks for all your research! I think it's about a week now.

Yes! It's very scary! Thank you for the hugs and wishes.

In other words, is the feeling of being out of control in a medical sense triggering old stuff?

If so, you can at least tackle the emotional component to this in therapy, and that may help make the physical situation a lot more manageable.
I never thought it could have to do with being a preemie. I'll ask my T. I definitely don't like being out of control and not knowing what is wrong with me. I don't deal with physical pain very well either. T said we will do breathing exercises today.

It's okay to post about yourself in my thread, Velcro. I'm sorry you have those medical fears due to being a preemie. I wasn't in danger as a preemie, according to my parents, so it probably didn't affect me that way but I will ask T what she thinks.

Are you feeling the weakness when you've the taken Tylenol? I ask because Tylenol generally doesn't make me feel very well, particularly if I take the full dose. I'm allergic to ibuprofen, so after my C-section, they kept trying to force two extra-strength Tylenols on me (along with prescription pain meds), and I ultimately ended up hiding one, I think (since they want you to take them in front of them). It was killing what little appetite I had and just making me feel weird, a bit shaky and weak. Plus Tylenol can affect the liver, and I thought you said at one point you had to be careful with that? So could be something with the Tylenol possibly?
Thanks for this!

I took 2 extra strength Tylenol at around 7 a.m. It's now after 10 and hasn't helped my pain. I'm starting to feel weak but it may be the pain. My liver tests were fine. I can't take any NSAIDs now. But if you were talking other pain meds, it could have been the combination, couldn't it? I'm really stuck if it's the Tylenol but I do feel weird and tired when I take it now, but I don't remember having a problem with it before. Maybe because I never took extra strength! Thanks, LT. What do you take if you need pain meds since you're allergic to ibuprofen?
