Thanks, Velcro. Plus I told him in the e-mail not to reply with anything more than "got it," that we'd discuss in session. Here's what I said (just gonna throw the whole thing under a trigger warning--and do it right this time!)

Possible trigger:

There's something I've never really brought up with you. Sometimes (like right now) I have fleeting suicidal thoughts. Nothing I'd ever act on, but they're still there. And the fact that they're fleeting makes it easy, when it's next session, for me to be like "Oh, they're gone now, I don't need to talk about them." But...I probably do need to address them. So, maybe we can discuss that a bit tomorrow? No need to respond to this beyond, "Yep, got it, can discuss tomorrow," or just "got it." Basically this is a way of forcing myself to talk about it. Which is sometimes what I use e-mails for (maladaptive though that may be).

Therapists can take care of themselves.

No idea if I'm the only client, but when I asked him last week if he'd be working, he said, "I'll be in during the afternoon." Which suggests to me that he's seeing other clients, too. And that helps to hear you say you might rather be bbqing but still like teaching.

Dude, mine is only working in the afternoon today too! Maybe we have the same T...

I'm not worried about her not wanting to work on a holiday, though. I know from past experience that she cancels/reschedules in advance if she doesn't want to work on a particular day. Also I think she's kind of a workaholic. Or at least that special type of sick-o who enjoys their job...

Nope, he cancelled. I feel very unimportant this morning. I feel like he probably already knew his other clients weren't coming and just wanted to see how he felt about coming in this morning. He offered a phone check-in, but we just did one yesterday and I don't see the point.

Ah I'm pretty weak to be honest. I did maybe 5 sessions with a trainer at the gym last year when I was in my weight loss phase. (Currently haven't set foot back in there for the past three months, but that's another story). I think 10kg was my max with free weights, maybe I got to 20kg with the overhead stuff but my best memory was with one machine which didn't have any weights but was still too hard to do properly!!

I like walking though....

So today, I actually apologized to my T for being so depressing. Then I realized what I said and was like, "Wait, I just apologized to a therapist for being depressing," then started laughing. He laughed, too. Good session, with some heavy topics. He seemed particularly compassionate and reassuring.

I can really understand. This may sound dumb but I would write letters to my T in my journal and have him "answer"it helped me a bit.

How are you finding your DBT skills program?
