I posted in another thread that as I can’t tolerate medication I would probably be posting more here. Dumbass bear.... I “should” have learnt by now not to be “transparent” - I always get hurt.
I am “just too sensitive” - that isn’t true .. I’d rather be “sensitive” than .... ![]() Is there any “point” in me engaging with a therapist? Any kind replies are welcome ![]()

PS after “opening up” in another thread I feel more “alone” than ever.
Maybe eventually I’ll become “indifferent” to feeling suicidal... or maybe I’ll just disappear. Would be “nice” ... ![]() (Medication is not an option.)

Hi fuzzybear. I don't know what the nhs can offer, but I can relate to not getting along with medication. There are other ways to restore balance and feel better. I hope you find one that will help.

I hope there would be point in you engaging in therapy. I know not everyone has had a good experience, but for me it has been a life- changing thing and very positive. And I haven't needed any medication (except for sleeping tablets, very occasionally).
Please keep reaching out. I'm sorry you feel alone. Do you have people you can reach out to in real life? ![]() |

I had substantial and life-altering therapy on the NHS (much cleaner than the sometime sh.it-show of therapy I am currently entertaining). Wait on the list and don't rule out NHS til you know all your options.

I have an excellent nhs shrink...But he specializes in....difficult cases, I suppose, is a polite way of putting it.
Only decent one out of about 17 in a lifetime.

You have my sympathy. I had 17 referrals over 10 years. Some lasted 10 mins before they were crying and I was bored.
Some lasted weeks. Outcome was usually the same I got bored of playing with them, or they took sick leave. Eventually I get a decent Pdoc and it's ok. I mean it took a long time to find someone who gets it. Doesn't faff around with all that childhood trauma crap. Or report my non attendances. And I attempt not to **** about when I do turn up to my appointments. Win win really. Anyhoo sorry for waffling. Really do wish you all the best. Keeping everything crossed you find someone that fits.

What I “should” have said was I was perceived as not having the “right” sort of suicidal ideation. Oh wait.. maybe I’ve been “offensive” again
I am NOT someone to compare abuse. I do NOT compare peoples abuse. They (helpers irl) did I felt THEY (the “helpers” irl) didn’t and don’t give a **** That is how I FEEL I’m not going to share what “my doctor” did to me ![]()

Hi fuzzy bear-
I am in the the us so I’ve never had to deal with the nhs. However I never found medication all that helpful but I have found talk therapy very helpful. I hope you find a good therapist if that is what you are looking for. Just wanted to show support. |

Just want to say that I empathise with you about the NHS.
I have met people in the NHS who were kind to me, but I've also had some truly awful experiences with them. I know that when I deal with them there's about a 50% chance I'll leave upset or traumatised. After my last experience with them I made a conscious decision to find a private therapist, whom I've been with for nearly a year. I don't know if that's an option for you, but you'll probably get a better therapist if they're someone who has to be good enough to keep clients when there's a free public system working alongside them. I have an appointment next month with the NHS for a potential medical intervention that would wipe out my savings if I went privately. I am scared I will once again end up with someone who doesn't give a toss about me, or where I'll have to fight every step of the way to get a basic level of care. Just want to say that I understand this. |

Hi fuzzy bear, a friend of mine hasn't had good luck on the NHS either. She lives in a rural area and has complex trauma from many years of abuse. Recently she found a private therapist through a charity.
I hope things start looking up for you. |

I see my T privately and he's great. It also helps because it gives me a sense of control- I pay him so I can choose whether to see him or not, and how long for (well we both have to agree on this, but it's not time-limited).
I've also had very good and very bad experiences with the NHS. In fact I'm in the middle of a complaint relating to someone who behaved very badly. I think it's hard because it's harder to get access, so you end up feeling you are stuck with whoever you are stuck with. I have a great GP, but it's hard to see her. But I have decided that from now on I will refuse to see anyone else! It isn't worth the risk. I'm sorry you had a difficult experience fuzzybear. |

I dont think there is such a thing as "too sensitive" There is a book for us sensitive people.....The Highly Sensitive Person (HSP's), not sure that is the correct title, but close. Theworld needs sensitive people; they are in short supply.
