Therapists have enjoyed lashing out at me and then shutting me down. No wonder I maybe come across as confused OR “stuck” to some, if I do and someone wants to judge me.. this is NOT MY STUFF🙄

I do “over analyse” things maybe, my husband has said something like that.

Thanks to everyone who has sent me supportive and insightful messages, they do help. But I’m still feeling confused, angry, sad, hurt, fearful and all those sub optimal feelings I went into therapy for in the first place,

And .. surprise.. being judged by a therapist or anyone is not helpful and can be harmful.

PS is it “normal” or helpful for a therapist to simply say “have a nice life” at the end of the last session ... it felt minimising to me and missing the point entirely.

Another therapist said something else I’m not going to share. But she was open to me consulting her again. Whereas T1 just shut me down completely, multiple times He was and no doubt still is, very “competent” at that As of course the “family” of origin did.

Just shut me down, judge me and then abandon me, that’s all I’m “useful” for to be YOUR whipping bear - to the PUS and the stupid useless “therapists” irl who harmed me

Sorry about the rant

(Not about anyone on pc)

How do I, or how does anyone, move forward? I think there is some value in engaging in forums like this, even if only because of the diversity of opinions. There is much to be learnt from reading on forums like this.

I have already learnt much, so therefore I’m moving forward.

I also enjoy the “dynamic” aspect of forums. And of course it’s not possible to be “perfect” - that would be very boring anyway.

PS Papa Bear just said something very funny

With gratitude to all who participate here

For a therapist to say, “Have a nice life.”, to me is antagonistic of them. It’s a petty, mean spirited thing to say and meant sarcastically, I’m sure. I’m really hurt from some things therapists said to me and obsess over it, as though their words are some edict from God to condemn me. Screw those idiots.

I understand what you mean, as least as how it applies to myself, when you say how does one move forward after getting shut down?

It's a very good question. Wish there were some books on that, or some general principles or guidelines. But, actually, as you said, just participating on PC -- trying things out and learning -- has been a big help to me, too.
Thanks for this!
