I had a good session yesterday. T used her hand to support me, to push on my side, and I pushed back. Hard to explain. But today I got dizzy and weak and sweaty in physical therapy from the medicine I'm on. I'm supposed to try taking half at night, half in the morning. I'm only on 25 mg of it-- Savella. I don't know what I will do if I can't tolerate it. It's supposed to help my sciatica, maybe. I was feeling more positive that I will get better but today I'm miserable!!! Friends and family are out enjoying themselves but I can't do anything for fun anymore. T says I have to get people to visit me.

Could I please have hugs? There's nothing anyway can do for me, and I'm still a little dizzy. The pdoc was gone for the day. Does anyone stay on meds that make you dizzy and weak?

Can you ask your prescriber if the side effects are supposed to lessen with time?
Can you tell your prescriber about the difficulties you are having with the medication? They may want to tweak your medication regimen somewhat.

I am kind of home bound, as well. I can get out some but feel isolated, too. So, I empathize with not being able to get out much to do fun things.

I think someone mentioned chiro before and you don't want to do that, but I just want to say that I had a bad back injury this past winter and it's been feeling hopeless--the pain, lack of enjoyment or ability to do things I used to do--with no end in sight until I found a great chiro who has a really thorough approach to regaining functionality, which is already starting to reduce my pain. I had seen another chiro before him who didn't do much, so they really do differ in approaches. Please don't give up up or think that no one can do anything.

One thing he told me was not to get emotionally attached to how I feel--that I'll feel great after a visit, then take a nosedive with pain, and it will cycle like that. I thought that was good life advice.

I'm sorry you're in so much pain, Rainbow. I would definitely talk to your doctor about your reaction to the med.

Seeing a chiropractor is a good idea. I'm going to start seeing one for some pain and stiffness in my upper back and neck. You could also try acupuncture. I've heard that can do wonders for physical pain.
Thanks for this!

My T just talked about acupuncture today and says that it is scientifically proven to help with pain even if they don't fully understand how it works.

Sending hugs Rainbow.
I can relate to being in physical pain and being housebound and changes in medication.
It’s a lot to adjust to physically and emotionally, it’s not easy at all and for me it has caused bouts of depression.

Please take good care of yourself

I ended up cutting myself off from doing things this summer and as my dear chiro put it today, just "suckling at the teat of fitness." Hes got an infant at home, he can say that! But its what ive been doing. Just concentrating on eating REALLY healthily and simply, exercising, sleeping, and doing chores as im able, and trying not to get overtired or anxious or re-injure my knee or back. Its boring, but seeing modest results is worth it.
Thanks for this!

I hope you find relief for your pain.

My heart is sad that you are hurting and have no relief.

I do send you a warm hug.

There are some really relaxing yoga asanas that help to relieve sciatic pain.

Peaceful child is one that I think of right now.

There are others that may help if you are open to them.

I do hope you find relief.

I don’t have any advice, but I can relate. I’ve had chronic pain for 9 years and I’m only in my early 30s. It’s awful! I work full-time, but sometimes I’m in so much pain I can’t see straight, I can’t concentrate, and I feel like I’m going to faint or vomit. My doctors don’t take it seriously— yet another example of doctors not taking young women’s pain seriously. I’ve tried several different medications and procedures for my neck, but none of them have been successful. I wish I knew what to do for both of us— but I don’t. I can only empathize.

That's because there's not much they can do medically until I am off the warfarin (I have a blood clot).
Thanks for hugs.

Thank you. I will ask her. Right now my foot hurts a lot and I can't sleep. I'm sorry you're homebound too.

I tried the Mackenzie Method with a chiropractor. I will ask the integrative medicine Dr. about chiropractors.

I tried acupuncture before I was diagnosed with a blood bclot. I also can't lie down for so long so it would hurt.

Yes, but it didn't help and lying down was hard. I'm sorry you're in pain or have been.

I would get bruises because of the warfarin and it's hard to lie still for 20 minutes but I agree it could help. I only did it twice.

I'm so sorry you suffer too. Nine years! I don't know how you can work so much! Chronic pain is terrible. Did you try CBD oil? If I weren't on warfarin, I would.

Rainbow, were you able to reach your pdoc? Another thing you might consider is calling your pharmacist, and seeing what can be done about the dizziness. Also, are you taking Savella with or without food? Taking it with a meal might help calm the side effects, or at least, that's what I've read. Gentle hugs.
Thanks for this!

this may have been mentioned before but have you maybe thought about trying some essential oils to help with the pain if your medication protocol will allow?

Acupuncture causes me to bruise quite a bit, but it's just bruises. It's not life threatening. And the benefits of pain relief far outweigh the side effect, which is not even painful.

I am concerned that your fear of any physical sensation is causing your body to lock up and freeze, which intensifies and deepens the pain pattern. It seems to me that you find relief in singing, and sometimes comfort from your therapist, because you are actually having the experience of relaxation in those moments and your body is letting go of its death grip.
Thanks for this!
