BCM—I have yet to be able to make it through more than 10 minutes of Downton Abbey, so you’re three episodes up on me.

Does that apply to “authenticity” in therapy too?

That may depend on if that applies to the t, or just the client...
Thanks for this!

In my opinion neither is usually authentic in therapy. Both are role playing, perhaps unconsciously, but even so.

But I also don’t think they have to be authentic for therapy to serve the client.

I also did not make it through the first episode of DA. I used to watch the maggie smith clips on youtube because she is so fun to watch deliver great lines. But I did not watch the actual show.

You can put tape around a part of the rings them to keep them on in the meantime. That way you don't have to have the crisis of them falling off and getting lost. They also make these things to keep rings from falling off:
Amazon.com: Ring Size Adjuster for Loose Rings - Jewelry Guard, Spacer, Sizer, Fitter - 12 Pack, 2 Sizes - Spiral Silicone Tightener Set with Polishing Cloth: Arts, Crafts & Sewing

I'm just feeling sorry for myself right now. My morning anxiety is peaking, I wake up with a racing heart. It's not even 7am yet and I've already thrown up. Worst case scenario if I don't pass this week I can go straight to the practical next week. I feel like i'm not try hard enough. I want R. I want R.

Why not wait to resize until you are where you want to be with losing weight? With the tape method - it is cheap and easy and then you only have to resize once.
But maybe they can resize a few times with ease without it compromising the integrity of the metal. I don't know.

On resizing rings, all I know is I had to have my wedding ring resized down—the guy told me it’s easier to resize down than up because it’s easier to remove than add metal.

Lemoncake, if it cheers you up, I am now hooked on Dark thanks to you.

The two retired therapists had different ideas about me trying again that they both offered recently without me asking them - the first said she did not think I should not try therapy again and the second said she thought I could do fine with a skilled, smart, and compassionate one (her exact words).
I just shake my head at the whole thing.

Wouldn’t everyone do well with a skilled, smart, and compassionate therapist?

I’ve been told I need one whom I can respect intellectually but have an emotional connection with.

The first one kept telling me my defenses were too strong for therapy to work. But of course, the first one also constantly told me she found me challenging to work with and the second one did not find me so - that could have something to do with it.

I think if i engage my suspension of disbelief and watch it as a mind numbing exercise i may enjoy it more but for the time being it amuses me which is what i need at the moment.

I'm having wine, apparently. Reading your post, I've suddenly realized that I forgot to eat dinner. And lunch.

I am canning spaghetti sauce, which calls for wine, so I had to open a bottle and I've refilled my glass a couple times. I should probably eat something and put the wine away. More wine than I usually drink on an empty stomach + boiling water and glass jars may not be the best mix.

I go into multiple elementary classrooms in different schools and districts, and it really varies according to teacher and tech comfort level, tech support/savvy schoolwide, tech initiatives across districts. I really see the whole spectrum, from almost completely digital to staying pretty low tech.

Not really chalkboards, usually, though. Dry erase and markers is most common.
