Also...does one tip a masseuse in practice for themselves? She rents a room in my electrolysist’s suite. I pay my electrolysist a flat fee for x sessions, so I assumed it was the same with this woman, but she asked “do I need to add anything?” when I went to pay. Other massages I’ve had have been at chains or spas, so I naturally tipped. But why can’t she just raise her fees? (Which were on the low side for 2 hours.)

Now I need to decide whether to relax the last few hours of break or do something to prepare for the last week of classes. Already ready for tomorrow.
I would not tip someone in business for themselves and the question posed would tick me off.
Relax of course.

I told my T last session that a previous client must have tipped him because there was a quarter on the table next to me. He was amused.

Actually the whole tipping thing made me wonder: if therapist was a tipping profession, would you tip them? How much?

I would not tip at all since they rarely even earn their fee in my opinion.

Tip a therapist? I can't imagine thinking they had actually earned their fee let alone anything on top of it.

I think it would depend on the session. And 20% would be extremely rare. Because...that's a lot of money. Though if it were a tipping profession, my T should be charging considerably less...

There was once where an old therapist had the same penny on the end table next to me for like, 6 weeks. Eventually I handed it to him and told him, "a penny for your thoughts."

I don't think he was amused. 😐

I wonder how therapy would change if the therapist was expecting/hoping for/ counting on tips?

Maybe some would radically pick up their game instead if getting money for jam. Some of course would not survive

I have noticed a trend in my country with tipping jars in some cafes, but if we were a tipping culture i would prefer to tip someone individually instead of it being split.

In my country, we tip individuals at sit-down restaurants, but at cafes there is usually a tip jar. I never put tips in there though. Although the cafe workers are not paid very much, so maybe I should.

They would probably just become wilier and tell us what they think we want to hear more. Info would spend the whole session telling me how braaaaave or authhhhentic I am or some such.

Three guesses what kind of therapy mood I'm in right now, more anti- or less anti-?

With waiters (and bartenders?) in US, they're likely being paid a really low wage that depends on tips to make it a working wage. So I/we tend to tip fairly well (like 25%) for places we go regularly. If it's a place we don't go often or when the service has been really bad, we definitely tip less than that. But we've found that if we're regulars and tip well, then we tend to be treated well (including stuff like better attention, free drinks, etc.).

The wind is so bad here that it woke me up blowing debris against the house. This should get rid of all the leaves that were still on the trees.

I lurveee christmas shopping and mainly just wrapping presents. I think the main consideration would be who are you buying for, what's your budget, what is X person like? Have the mentioned anything previously of wanting/needing something.

You could always go for a small item plus chocolate.

Do you clear the fallen leaves or leave them to pile up on their own?
