The closet store is an hour plus away, so I'm going to make a journey out of it. I don't really need anything, but I want a candle (s). I like sitting in the show rooms and pretending that I live there, with my favorite chair that I'm going to buy when I'm older and get my own place.
I've never been to an Ikea...

Be warned. Once you go there's no going back. You might fall in love with a Poäng.

It's lovely to read of your progress and how far you've come!

32 hours is a lot! Congrats!

Do you also put the presents under the tree or wait until later to add them?

Yup. I've also read on another forum that for some couples the ikea can make or break your relationship.

Quote:
clinical psychologist Ramani Durvasula told The Wall Street Journal.

Couples in her therapy sessions mentioned Ikea-related arguments so frequently that Durvasula began making research trips to the store. She found that themed areas triggered related arguments: bedding (sex), kitchen goods (chores), children’s gear (don’t even start).

The showroom is also where troubling questions of taste arise. In an environment where choosing a coffee table is marketed as an expression of identity, it’s easy to project deeper meaning onto a partner’s opinion. If I like the Lack and you like the Klingsbo, do we want the same kind of home? Do we want the same kind of life? Who are you, really?

“Couples tend to extrapolate from the small conflicts that arise while shopping for and building furniture that perhaps they aren’t so made for one another after all,” Maisie Chou Chaffin, a London-based clinical psychologist who works with couples, told me.

Oh right LT-so I’m of the opinion that his email is just covering his butt and he’s using DBT skills( or lack there of-considering I am not sure he ever used it in your sessions based on what you would write in IST) in his favor to not take responsibility for anything that could have gone wrong in that relationship. It’s very unlikely if you are looking for a real apology from him you won’t ever get it. I’m sorry. His email did sound final-like others mentioned here. I think where he said he appreciates you sticking it out with Dr T -that was just him fiishing for something else to add to the email. Almost like he was compelled to find something to make the email more than just one line....
I’m not sure what else. I might have more thoughts but have to get ready for work. Hugs.

Yeah, I feel the email is more of a butt-covering. Like he felt he should reply with *something*, so went this route. A day later, I feel his email was right in the middle--like not really apologizing, but not outright telling me to go away. I think it's why I feel so ambivalent about it right now. And yeah, he seems sort of fixated on me still continuing to work with my T (it's come up in a couple other emails where I was doubting him). Maybe he was looking for something positive to say about how I'm doing now? The fact that he mentioned H twice at the end suggests he's trying to be particularly boundaried.

Regardless, I don't feel I got that "fix" from the email that T was talking about in session Monday. Which I think is a good thing, as it makes me much less likely to want to email him again. Maybe this email is what I needed to get me to the "acceptance' stage of grief? Since I'm pretty sure I was in the depression stage there these past few weeks (even though as T has said, the stages of grieving are not necessarily linear). I guess this is all stuff to talk about with T tomorrow...

ETA: And no, MC didn't address any DBT stuff in sessions with us (he's psychodynamic, not sure if that makes a difference).

My baby kitty has a vet appointment today for a booster shot. I can't take her because I'm working so my Dad is taking her. I'm feeling nervous now. Her appt. is in 45 minutes. I'm sure it will be fine. She did fine after the last time she got a shot. But as a kitty mom I can't help but feel a little nervous. Kit

I was getting a migraine. So I took some Imitrex which is a prescription medication for migraines. The pain in my head isn't so bad now but I'm so hot because the medicine makes me really hot and the medicine makes my muscles hurt. So I'm sitting in my office sweating to death and I turned the lights off so my eyes wouldn't hurt. Really want to go home. No more sick time for the year. Drat. Kit.

@Lemon - I see an advert for Toffifee, and I think of you.

Not that I've ever eaten one.

Hugs, SK. Migraines suck. I hope you feel better soon. I wonder if you could ask your doctor about a different medicine that might not have as many side effects?

Thanks LT. I've already been on a lot of preventative migraine meds, but wasn't able to tolerate them for one reason or another (one sent me to the hospital with seriously bad SI thinking) so it's back to the tried and true Imitrex. It just stinks when I get a lot of migraines because then I get rebound migraines from the Imitrex. It's kind of a never ending cycle. I did try Botox once but it was really expensive despite what the ads on TV say. I stopped seeing the neurologist because there was nothing left for me to try and no other help he could offer me. Luckily my new health insurance pays for 18 Imitrex pills per month instead of 9 like my last health insurance. I was always terrified of running out before months end and having nothing to help me with the migraines. Kit.

My baby kitty is home from the vet. My Dad said the vet appointment was fine, but getting her in the carrier was a nightmare. She didn't want to get in it at the end of the appointment either and she jumped off of the examination table and tried to run toward the door. Luckily they got her and were able to put her in the carrier. She is now safely at home, hiding. Hopefully she will have no trouble with her vaccine. I'm grateful to my Dad for taking care of her when I wasn't available to take her to the vet. Kit.
