The mouse in the house was exactly why we got our first cat Esther who happened to be an excellent hunter. Within a week, no more mice. Unfortunately, she also liked birds. The lady next door would feed the birds and then they came to our backyard to be hunted. Now its rare for us to have a bird in the backyard, even though Esther is getting older (13) and doesn't hunt as much. She's also getting fat since she's not on a "natural" diet. Lol. Kit

If I tell my therapist that God talked to me, do you think she's just going to tell me it's a hallucination? Kit

It's possible, but she will take you seriously if she knows your history.

I had lazy eye surgery on both eyes. Twice but I was asleep for all of it.

Don't think I'll sleep much tonight. Disgusting confession: We have mice in our house, so I've been bleaching, scrubbing, sweeping, etc. Tried calling the landlord and he's blaming us and wants to backcharge us for the last 6 years we've lived here if he has to hire pest control. I feel absolutely disgusting and like people must assume we're dirty even though I know I keep the house clean.

I'm so so overwhelmed. I saw T tonight and see him on Friday morning. That seems like so long away but I know it's not.

Your landlord is a p****. It may be easier to deal with yourself. I've read that bad housekeeping can attract mice, but that good housekeeping can't prevent them! My house is older and on a crawlspace, so mice are always possible, some years more than others.

Sadly, current cat has no interest. Former cat was a great mouser, and tried to teach her as a kitten, but she just doesn't care--unless they are her furry, squeaky play mice!

I've found 2 solutions: one is a trap made by Victor that's on Amazon if not available locally: it's a battery powered humane instant shock killer. You will have to see the mouse to empty it, but I never have to touch it. And it has a flashing light that tells you when it's been triggered, so you have to look at it twice a day (light flashes for 12 hrs). It comes in a one mouse at a time version or a multi mouse version that's more for commercial spaces.

Once you eliminate the current crop (give it a week or two) of any nesting mice, you can use a repellent. I've had great results with essential oil of peppermint (not peppermint scented stuff) on cotton balls tossed into areas where they may travel. Replace every 2-4 weeks, depending upon when the scent fades. Your house will smell amazing!

Also plug any visible holes with steel wool and use caulk sealant, if possible, around pipes and air leak borders.
Thanks for this!

I never took astronomy but I did take a geology class in JC. We took field trips and everything. I took a lot of agriculture classes in high school. Those were awesome! I took physics and chemistry and biology and all the "normal" science classes, but I was a nerd and was in science club! Kit

This class will have field trips too! We have a big observatory about an hour from here so will likely go there at least once.

I had cataract surgery in both eyes. They give you eye drops that make your eyes unable to focus, everything looks fuzzy, including the hand coming towards your eye. I didn't find it disturbing at all. But they also have me a light sedative during the procedure so that also helped.

I got to take a field trip today at work and go to the bank in the middle of the day and sign documents for work. Usually if I go to the bank for deposits it's at the end of my shift. Kind of nice to go in the middle. Then I won't get home late. Kit

When I was a kid, we had a mama cat who raised excellent hunters. People would ask for her kittens. My mother has a hunting story about taking one of mama cat's offspring to their cabin in the woods for the first visit of the spring. With a nod to our animal lovers, I will just say that he was so stuffed he could barely move after the first night, and he left gifts for his people.

My cats are not hunters. One is an old purring pillow of a cat and might blink at a mouse if it came near enough. The other is imperious and demanding, and likely wonders why we aren't catching mice and bringing them to him.
