It’s also the order evolving languages develop words differentiating different colors: dark-light, red, green then yellow or yellow then green, blue.

Fascinating, thanks!

Does this mean we'll get random economics facts all summer?

(Please say yes, it does! )

I can’t imagine anyone wanting random economics facts.

Can’t I just tell you random Roman facts instead?

Or economist jokes? Like this one:

Two economists were walking down a street. They passed a sports car. One economist said, “I want one of those someday.” The other one said, “no, you don’t, or you’d have one already.”

I only spend 2 years in college but took macro and micro. I think I passed both with a 70%. I took that 70% and ran as fast I as I could. I still don’t understand anything about it so I look forward to random facts or jokes as well.

Micro looks at the individual, company or group. Whilst macro looks at national, or global economics.

Although honestly, the only things I really remember from macro is the long discussions on welfare, and the interesting discussions on the Euro.

Eff that. My favorite Oprah quote from an interview with Maya Angelou is "when someone shows you who they are believe them the first time not the 27th". You don't have to be be nice anyone .

Well done for standing up for yourself Echos!

Then again, I remember almost nothing from micro economics...except that the teacher almost had a mental breakdown. I think he attempted sui.

Thanks! I was just thinking big and small and drawing a blank on everything you people with smartz were talking about.

My first term of economics was in a tiny hot classroom with a grey teacher who droned in monotone and never smiled. I think I dozed my way through.

I switched instructors. One of the best teachers I've ever had, EVER. He was engaging, was passionate about his subject and about teaching it, and enjoyed his students. I still remember some of the things he taught us. I learned as much about teaching from him as I did economics.

My scale fluctuated DOWN this week!

Cuz usually when you say, oh my weight FLUCTUATES, you mean it fluctuates UP, right?

I watch an episode of my 600 lb life every night before bed. Watching the surgery REALLY cuts the appetite. I had like 5 walnut halves for breakfast this morning (plus coffee) and i was like, mmm, delicious, im full!

I sent a big (self confessed) rant to my T, warning him to grab a cup of tea before he reads it, and he emailed back:

Quote:
Hi Echos

Thanks for the suggestion to make a cuppa! I didn't, but it made me smile (I had one recently).

Difficult conversation, which must be frustrating for you as you have always given me the impression that you have a lot of respect for [course leader].

It does sound like you have achieved what you most want; not to be supervised by [horrible woman]; so well done for saying what you need in a way that has been heard.

It saddens me that one of the major therapy training teams in this area seem to have (at least partially) lost sight of their responsibility to 'walk their talk', which is one of the most important ways they can enable their students to learn at a deep, value base and embodied level.

Good to remember that you always have a choice - you can make the best of it and complete your [qualification], or you can walk away. Not a great choice I appreciate and of course there is a very significant power imbalance that you are faced with as a student.

I hope having a rant helps you bounce back and have a good weekend.

Warm wishes, T
That was exactly what I needed from him.

Well, if you insist.

Q. How was the Roman Empire cut in half?
A. With a pair of Caesars.

[This is actually true.]

Or, more obscurely:

A patrician boy fell in love with a plebeian girl. She started getting ideas about commitment. He said, "I can't marry you, you're a plebeian." She said, "Yes, you can, you liar."

[The Lex Canuleia in 445 BC permitted intermarriage between patricians and plebeians.]
