Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

"Tulips form a genus of spring-blooming perennial herbaceous bulbiferous geophytes (having bulbs as storage organs). The flowers are usually large, showy and brightly colored, generally red, pink, yellow, or white"

Tulip - Wikipedia

Can he keep the kids for a few more days if that would be easier for you?

I'm really struggling with being physically away from L. It's not fair that my family has me as their main emotional support and gets to physically be with me, and I can't physically be with my main emotional support.

L is trying her best to help me through this. We actually had to have an extra phone session on Saturday. Since, she's been emailing me daily, reminding me of truths (i.e. She's there, she's not leaving me, and we're in this together). It has been helpful. Every day I wait for that email which proves she's there.

In other news, I've been working hard to not emotionally eat and stay on my diet. However, my doctor wants me to quit smoking in 5 weeks (when I see her next) due to medication issues and the virus. It's going to be so hard not having any of my "bad" coping skills during these uncertain times.

And I'm still hoping that I can see L on our anniversary (April 9th), but it's not looking so good

Hugs, SheHulk, that sounds really difficult with being at the various ERs and hospitals. I'm glad you're not currently stuck in the house with your H. Hope you're doing a bit better now.

One of my favorite aspects of this whole at home learning thing is that I get to hear my son's music professors teach. I'm getting enriched with music theory and choral arranging. Additionally, our conductor, in lieu of our regular rehearsals, is creating videos on Verdi's Requiem in preparation for next season. He's an expert in music history and the first video was fantastic.

New couch!

I've been dreaming about taking calls at work Last night, I dreamed that my coworker S was doing test calls and I couldn't hear her. We got a good laugh out of that when I told her this morning, because she and I used to do test calls! haha

I hope everyone is staying well.

I took a nap and had a nightmare that I ate a bunch of food. I’m still super scared to eat, which scares me because I feel like passing out..

H bought a chair to go into the living room so he can play games on the tv (he says our couch is too low). So we got it delivered and I started putting it together. I asked him to help me hold pieces while I tried to screw in the screws. He dropped the back of the chair on my knee! I will never ask him to help me again. My dad came and helped and we were able to finish it.

I took my daughter out of school because i thought it was the right thing to do because i think our government is being too slow to take action. Our PM said we should keep schools open as kids have a low risk of transmitting and in a later speech he said if keep kids home make sure they dont go out and spread the virus. He also said schools should open so medical personnel can be available why dont the health services pay for child care like they with the measles epidemic a few years sgoAccording to the UNESCO map we are the only country who hasnt closed their schools

I am starting to detest Zoom. Nothing wrong with it, good telecom software, it has a few advantages over teaching in person (which is still better), I just hate being forced to use it under these circumstances.

Well, only 20 more Zoom classes! Unless the rumors that my school is considering using it in the fall again if this goes on are true.

nine hours until my country goes into lockdown for four weeks (except for essential services/workers). our PM, Jacinda Ardern, has addressed the nation repeatedly over the last few days and every time i'm struck by the contrast between her calm, measured, informative and empathetic approach, and the shitshow pressers full of lies, deflections, waffle and bluster i see from some other world leaders. feel very thankful to be where i am during a crisis like this. still pretty bloody anxiety-inducing though (especially as i'll be home alone the entire time).

My district has announced school will be closed through the end of April, distance learning continues and they will observe Spring Break. I'm not a fan of homeschooling. My kid seems to be doing all right except for missing the entirety of her social experiences. We ride together every once in a while for a few minutes to pick up a take out treat, pretty sure it's the only time she sees sunshine all day. Stay healthy couch!

We are still able to walk or bike outside but not in groups. A lot of children are on bikes or walks with their parents - sometimes it looks like the parents are taking the children out to just run up and down hills
