Yes! Let's do a paint night, I'm in! I still have a couple of the 12x12 square canvases I'd bought awhile back. What shall we paint?
Thanks for this!

Don't Paint Nights usually have a theme or a painting to imitate? And involve alcohol?

I will join you in spirit by watching one of the Community paintball episodes.

I don't get people and their mask behavior. A lot of people out in public aren't wearing them at all when they should be, like when going into a restaurant to pick up takeout or shopping in a 7-11. Then other people are wearing them when they don't need to. Like when alone driving in their car or sweeping their own porch.
Thanks for this!

Yes there's usually a particular painting to imitate... I figure we can all go on YouTube and pick one we like? B/c trying to get us to all agree on one sounds like a looooot of work

And yes there's usually alcohol involved--there certainly will be when I do it!

(Also YES, a fellow Community fan!!! That is one of my very favorite shows of all time!)

I saw a maskless woman sneeze on the pineapple at the grocery store the other day. She didn't mean to, she tried to stifle it, but still.

Around here I'd guess mask wearing has declined from about 90% in mid-April to 50-60% now.

I don't get the people in their cars alone wearing masks either. I could see sweeping the porch with one if you have allergies, but not the people exercising outdoors with one--how do they breathe?

I'm ready to chuck all the letters I'm painting and say screw it. Tried to do it on one type and no matter what I did, the paint looked streaky and peeled off easily. I got different material and trying patterns and just ugh. Doesn't help that H is here and he's like, I love you, why won't you say it back 1000 times today. And asking me to do his discussion post since he helped my father put up a section of bamboo fencing.

Yeah, but do you have enough scarves? Birx apparently never wore the same one twice.

Give Fauci my love.

I can hear the cat up to something in the living room. I hope she's not getting into trouble. She is a good cat, but noise is being made and that is somewhat concerning.

I think that some people mistakenly think the masks are to protect them and they don't feel vulnerable. The idea that the mask is to protect others from you is hard in the us where we usually don't think like that (as opposed to Japan for example) and the idea that if people are afraid of others they can just stay home. I wear a mask inside places where others are, but I don't believe that most of the masks people put on are doing anything at all for anyone. I think it is just giving people a feeling like there is something concrete they can do - a distraction rather than actually beneficial. Kind of like when people drum for tsunami victims (an acquaintance of mine was leading drum circles for that specific purpose - I had to just walk away whenever she would talk about it because of how stupid I thought it was), or making teddy bears for people after a bombing. I have no patience with that sort of useless stuff. But it does seem to make some people feel like they are doing something.

I hold no misconceptions that the mask I wear is protecting me. I wear a mask on the off chance that it will protect someone else even though I find it triggering because my husband once threatened to and then tried to smother me. That's what ticks me off. I wear the damn thing even though I feel like I'm suffocating in it and these other people just can't be bothered with it. I feel like if everybody wore them, we'd all be a lot safer and this interminable stay-at-home thing would end quicker. I feel suicidal because I can't take this isolation anymore. Please people, just do the thing so I can go back to my limited social interaction at work again.

Most people I see are wearing them inside stores and such. I don't see (me included) people wearing them in parks or just outside walking on sidewalks
but some are. I haven't been to a restaurant since they started opening those back up so I don't know about there -but it would seem a challenge to eat with a mask on.

I hate wearing masks—it feels hard to breathe, and it adds to my hearing difficulties when the other person’s mouth is covered—and I have no idea whether it helps, but my feeling is it can’t possibly hurt since we know so little of this virus, so I wear them indoors with people around.

I wear one so as not to upset others when indoors in public places.
I suppose I would wear one if outside in something like a public market if it appeared to be the norm. I don't particularly mind them except they can get hot.

I do think it is important to get out of one's house and into the fresh air - beneficial for one's state of mind in my opinion.

They put a mask on the I New York heart for Cuomo’s mandatory mask announcement.

It looks like a pair of underg’s.

It may actually be topping the anti-smoking fascists and the seatbelt hysterics.

I don't wear a mask when I'm not really within distance of someone, i.e. walking down the street. I also don't wear one in a therapy session when we have one in person. That feels like a calculated risk because I live alone and have extremely limited contact with others. But I do wear one when going into a store or restaurant to pick up a takeout order. I went into a 7-11 this week and no other customer was wearing a mask. I even sat in my car for a bit to observe. I picked up takeout for lunch today and no one was wearing a mask, not even the employees. My state has not been particularly hard hit, but still, it seems like people should be more cautious.

In my country, everyone has to wear a mask when outside their residence. So I wear them everywhere except where I'm living. T and I meet in person and wear masks because I'm one of her clients who don't do well with telehealth.
