I'm feeling pretty bummed these days. I also have large swaths of time to fill between bouts of studying. I know this won't fix things, but does anyone have any recommendations for uplifting or inspiring books, movies, TV shows, etc?

If you haven't come across This is Us, give it a try. Well worth a watch, IMO.

My middle name is not Uplifting, but rewatching Community on Netflix has been cheering me up.

I wonder if I am getting depressed again. I can't tell if it is that, or the work furlough 16 hours a week and general COVID stuff.

Absence of normal routine + pandemic will do a number on anyone's mood, Kit.

This time is all about finding ways to fill time.

My therapist's psychology today profile is no longer there. What the heck does that mean? Did he just forget to pay the bill? Is he not seeing new clients and going strictly to evaluations?

My sister has been trying to get my niece to potty train (3 years 1 month old) and it's been a fight. Today my niece went pee on the potty and then clapped and said yay!!! I think this is forward progress!

I kept telling my sister not to worry. Everyone eventually gets potty trained. Don't force it. But she needed to be potty trained to go to preschool and my sister needs her in preschool so she doesn't have to have the older kids watch her and try to do their school work remotely.

I only have two coming to mind at the moment:

The pursuit of happyness with Will Smith.

Man's search for meaning- Victor Frankl

I agree with your second post. A child takes as long as they need to take to learn.

Is he away at the moment?

I think it would most likely be due to not seeing new clients.

Found out my doctor's appointment is going to be $75 tomorrow and I might not get paid tomorrow like I should. There is money in the company bank account but something to do with the bank changing their fraud stuff and the money hasn't been pulled out of the account yet and it is usually pulled out the day before. I'm a bit worried.

Well, my psychiatrist confirmed it is most likely tardive dyskinesia. I hope against hope it goes away eventually; it may be permanent. The man, who has no bedside manner to speak of, felt moved to tell me that it could even get worse!

As these things go, it's rather mild. My lip and chin quiver as if I'm getting ready to cry, but only on the left side. It happens for anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes and then goes away. I can still talk and eat as normal so that is good.

I'm really upset but trying to hold it together. I had a stroke at age 17, I had cancer, and now this. I don't know what I did to deserve all this medical ***** but it must have been bad. Couch 217: The Order of the Phoenix couch

Got home from a long day at work and was running a slight temp and having some chest pressure. I found someone to cover me tomorrow. I get bronchitis a lot (I have severe asthma) - so hopefully this is minor.

Husband is being a jerk - about everything! He wants to compare who has the harder job. Well his job is harder physically but mine is much more taxing mentally. I told him I didn't want to get into a ***sing match. That just made him more angry. I have to find a way out of this relationship.

I am very frustrated over a faculty meeting earlier today. I am well out of the fall semester on-campus and have some control, but I really feel for my colleagues and students (we are to "encourage students to be on campus" and faculty must be in the classroom if they don't have accommodations to teach remotely).

I'm taking out my frustrations by cleaning the fridge. On to the crisper drawers!

ETA: and does anyone know how to tell if buttermilk has gone bad?
