I asked my T this last week, and she said she's not planning to go back to face to face this month as it's still risky. She said maybe August.

I'm finding it difficult to concentrate as we have been having our session via Skype or face time. Anyone else find this too?

I'm in California and I doubt we'll return to f2f until next year...if ever.

I spoke to my Therapist about it and she works in an office block with other companies. She said there are no plans yet. I'm in Scotland so we are behind England with the restrictions being lifted etc

I suppose it will always be risky, unless there’s a vaccine or the virus disappears somehow. I never stopped having face to face sessions, but I can imagine Skype would have been nearly impossible for me. It seems like it’s personal choice for each therapist, unless the offices they work from are shut. Hope you can get back to in person sessions soon.

I was seeing my short term T through my work face to face again but that has now been stopped due to local lockdown. When I contacted the T who I was planning to start long term work with just before lockdown happened but never had chance to get the appointment, they have said they will not be returning to face to face until all social distance measures have been removed, so likely spring time next year. I’ve heard from a few other people who have said their Ts are also not considering a return to face to face for a long time yet. It seems professional bodies like BACP are encouraging Ts to avoid face to face for as long as possible.

This is the link that I was sent by T who I had been planning to see about why they won’t be considering face to face until all social distancing measures are removed.

Whenever I ask, my T says he doesn’t know, but hopes to be able to return to face to face in three weeks time or so. The last time I asked was about three weeks ago and so far there hasn’t been a mention of face to face yet. I know he will at some point as he prefers it to zoom, but it’s disheartening to see pubs and shop opening and not therapy offices. I get that there’s a risk though. This is all so hard.

Not yet (I’m in the U.S) but other mental health places are opening and it’s a bit frustrating since I always thought my place was higher up.

Swiss here, I've started in-person sessions again about 4 weeks ago. My T only offered phone calls before, no face time or similar, so I really appreciate it, I didn't like only talking on the phone.

I don't feel it's unsafe to meet currently, though our numbers are rising. We've always met with masks now and my T cleans the room after every client. I think it's safer than a lot of other situations I walk into daily (like supermarkets, where even if people were to wear masks, I'd touch way more things that others have touched and distance to others would be smaller as well, my T and I sit like 3 meters apart currently). Yes, there is a risk, but that's the case for everything in life, even eating or walking can be risky.

I started to see my therapist face to face in a conference room at the place I go to. They are still doing phone sessions but some people are going face to face if they call and arrange it with there therapist. Until social distance is lifted that is how it will likely be.

I’m also finding the video sessions (via zoom), hard. I really wish we could meet in person. My T hasn’t given me any update and I haven’t asked her. I suppose her safety is an important element in the decision. I don’t want her to be at risk. I also don’t want to do sessions where she wears a mask. I will be really really happy if she tells me we can resume in person sessions.

I got an update today and it looks like it will be soon. She mentioned that she needs to wear a mask and also a face shield. I’m hoping I’ll be one of the first to be scheduled. Although I don’t know. But I can just be dropped off for a session I don’t need a guardian in with me or even someone in the waiting room. And I can handle seeing her in a face mask and a shield. I can imagine it would be unsettling to some of her younger clients. I have no idea though what will happen.

Mine has been offering face to face sessions since the beginning of June. She cleans between each client and sits 2 meters away. The building is very quiet at the times she uses it - hardly ever see anyone else. I’m in England.

I wish we were. At this point I just need to physically see her. I almost joked that I would drive to her town and we could go for a walk. I definitely would even though she is 70 miles away. BUT.....
