Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

The only telephone area code in northern minn, probably til 2050, even including cell phones, faxes, etc. - not a lot o' folks up there!

Betsy Tacy and Tib were from southern Minn. Their city (Mankato) is on the wiki phone map from the 1950's. I was charmed. Hence (thence? Whence?) the couch.

I dated a woman from minnesota once. Unless it was Wisconsin. I have been to both and can't tell them apart. She was the one truly batshit crazy ex I have. She is now a therapist.
And she was batshit crazy.

When I was going out with her, she was just a batshit crazy lawyer. I have no idea why someone would choose to be a therapist. It is at the top of several careers I absolutely never ever found compelling in any way. It even beats out nun.

Hi couch, I haven't been on here in a few days. I just finished another class last night so now I have a 2 week break.

Talked to our cps caseworker this afternoon. There was another report made to them but it was screened out so nothing is going to happen with it. He told me that they could close out the case since my 11 is doing better mentally, but they're keeping it open to help support me. He found a shelter that I could possibly go into Monday evening. I would have to call Monday and do a placement screening. I don't know what to do. I don't think those places allow you to bring your own phone or computer and i don't know how it would affect my therapy. Caseworker said it's not a perfect solution but wants me to really consider it and said my kids will be okay, and he'll check on them as much as I want. I know he's really trying to be supportive and helpful. But I'm struggling with this choice so badly today, and just breaking down crying the whole day. I feel so alone in all of this.

Hugs, SheHulk. That sounds really difficult. Would it be possible for you to talk to one of your T's about this to help with the decision? And would you have to be away from your kids for a long period of time?

Well I tried again to go get my bloodwork recheck this morning, they were open this time but they claim they didn't receive the ppw from the doctor's office. I told her I'd asked for a hard copy but they said no, we'll send it over. I should have known better! Ha. I will go over to my dr's office once they open and demand the hard copy of the orders so I can reschedule again. I'm really not sure what the deal is with my dr's office, do they think I am going to try to forge ordering more tests for myself?!

That sort of low grade disregard of people is one of the many reasons I eschew western medicine. For me, dealing with that crap would kill me/cause me pointless grief long before whatever else might be going on.

Artie - Its because you have a republican governor. We have That Woman From Michigan, and my dr is bending over backwards to do stuff remotely. Its an agoraphobics dream.

Eta - this covid stuff is a real civics lesson, if nothing else.

As much as I long for the furlough to be over, I don't see it ending any time soon. I came to work at 7 AM and it is now just past 9:30 AM and I'm out of work. I'm here until 3:30 PM but obviously as I am on PC, I don't have any real work to do. (I guess I could do my therapy assignment!) What is frustrating is that we haven't heard back from unemployment yet or gotten any payments (we are furloughed 16 hours a week and do work share in CA). It's hard waiting on the system. I think it is stressing me out. I had to take a Xanax once I got to work and now I'm like crap. What do I do for the day? I feel bad about getting paid for the day when there isn't a day worth of work to do. On the other hand, I'm here, I'm answering phones and helping the CFO as much as I can. UGH Kit.

I'm really sad today. I started out kind of hyper and anxious. Now the anxiety is pretty much gone since I took a Xanax and so is most of the hyper-ness. I'm having trouble with my leg because it keeps bouncing but there's nothing I can do about that. I think it's nervous energy, or my ADHD or something. But I'm sad. I'm like really really sad. And I don't really know why. I just am. My Mom asked me last night if I was depressed. I just kind of shrugged because I didn't want to tell her I had some sui feelings. She said she hoped I wasn't because I have been doing so good. I'm supposed to get my books today that I ordered so that's awesome. It will certainly give me something to do on my half days and furlough day. Yesterday I played Sequence with my Dad. We played four games and I won all four so I felt bad for him. At least it was something to do. I'm terribly sad. Sigh. Kit

That could be true! I went to dr's office and picked up the hard copy and it's not on the usual form with everything listed and boxes to check - it looks more like a prescription - so I can't alter it haha like I would do that anyway, my good little girl complex would never let me do such a thing

Since I have the office to myself today, I put on some music. It's too quiet/eerie/spooky otherwise. But I want to be able to hear the front door so I can't play it very loud.

I bought an rv so I can travel while on hybrid teaching. The biggest hurdle right now is that my dog is not yet enamored of riding in any vehicle.
