Where I live we are on lock down for 4 weeks starting on Sunday. I am taking it really hard this time, even though it's needed here.

Where I go for therapy some therapist are going to be working from home and some will see clients still with mask like it has been for a few months. My anxiety is through the roof the thought of having my sessions by phone. I also am dealing with allot of PTSD flashbacks this week. Also she is going to let me know about the test i did with her on losing focus. Everything seems to be bothering me. Also Christmas has always been tough for me losing allot of close relatives, Mom, my Grandpa. I think if this lock down was not happening I would be coping allot better, then i am right now.

Would it bother my therapist if i phoned her just to see if i can still come to the office next week and then after New Years?

I think it’s perfectly normal to want that reassurance from your therapist. Then you could know and prepare for what’s happening, that always seems to help me anyway. I can relate to your post, Christmas can be so hard especially when you are missing loved ones and in a pandemic at the same time.

Dear Cheryl27,

It is heartbreaking what you are going through. I think your feelings are very understandable.

We are in lockdown too and everything is so surreal and difficult. I hope things get better for you!

Sincerely yours, Yao Wen

It's a perfectly legitimate question to ask! Especially in light of that new lockdown.

Perfectly acceptable to ask.

My area is on lock down too. I have in-person sessions scheduled this month. I asked L if it was going to affect our in-persons and she said no.

I phoned my therapist this morning. She is still going to work at the clinic and I can still see her. Also I told her how afraid I was last week of her not being able to see me because I dissociate allot more then we had thought. She explained to me that was not the case and that we must proceed at a slower pace when discussing trauma. She also helped me come up with a plan if I need help during Christmas break and she is away from Dec. 18th til Jan 4th. Day program and a crisis counsellor will avalible at mental health clinic. I did not have this so good of support with my ex-t or addiction counselor at the same clinic. It's really good to have the support I need.

Yeah, I am glad you will still be able to see your T and I am glad she reassured you that she isn't going anywhere because of your dissociation. It sounds like she is really responsible with your care.
