I suspect many careers would have a similar response. As a teenager, I had given friends perms and cut hair. I was pretty good at it..so I decided to be a hair dresser and make money doing what I was good at and enjoyed doing.

How many high schoolers enjoyed debate class or other classes about law? They were told they were good at it an realised they could make good money doing so so they became lawyers.

How many people grew up taking care of children and decided to make it a career and make money?

How many people question their motives and presume they are only on it for the money?

'Crossing bounderies' has a negative connotation to me. It implies the client being nosey or the question to be inappropriate.
I would have much have a therapist say 'for personal reasons i dont want to go into' or 'family history' or any answer of that kind.
Maybe its just the distant vibe i get from such a reply.

My T has it on his webpage. Over the almost three years I have worked with him he has shared more details to why he became a T.

I'd like to think its because they have a level of empathy for the human race and the skills to help others who are suffering. And if they actually answer something as banal and asinine as "I might as well get paid for hearing problems" then they need to lie and come up with a reason that makes them seem like they have a soul.
