This Thursday I will be doing EMDR on some flashbacks that are very vague. They don't tell me who the person was or what happened. Mainly they are body memories. What should I expect? TIA

In this situation, my EMDR therapist would probably have me focus on the body sensations during EMDR and see what comes up (feelings, images, other body sensations, etc). You don't have to have a narrative or even words to re-process something.

I think the experience is different for different people. I had a lot of different traumas to work through. At times it felt like energy running through my body. Like emdr opened up the floodgates of stimulation. A few times i needed a follow up session later in the day or the next day to further process whatever we were working on. It's hard work but I wouldn't change a thing. I can notice the same memories now without flashbacks, negative feelings, or physical responses. Good luck.

With EMDR, it's only for people who do actually feel a lot of emotions about their traumatic memories, right?
