I drove out to the testing location, which is like a half hour drive for me. They just called to tell me they did the wrong test and I need to come back. I'm tired and I don't feel like driving back there. Ugh! They even went back in and double checked which test they were doing because I thought the doctor had ordered the PCR test and they still gave me the wrong test.

Ugh, that sucks, I'm sorry! Are you going to do the other one? I hope it's nothing you have to pay for.

We're meeting son & his gf for dinner in a little bit; a goodbye dinner. I am going to miss them SO much. But I am going to do my best to be present in the now and not 'live in the future' while we are at dinner!! I put together a traveling care package for them, some fast food gift cards, a box of cheez-its, and a couple boxes of breakfast-bar kinda thingies. Things that can easily be eaten on the road. They're going to break up the long drive over 4 days, which I think is super-smart since he's never driven longer than like 6 hours at a stretch.

I was thinking today - that I was his age (23) when I drove from St Louis to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon by myself to work there that summer (ah, the summer of J!) That was a long haul too... and I was by myself! I don't remember if I had 3 nights on the road or 4. I'm thinking 3 because I drove one super-duper long day. But it's kinda cool, y'know, that he's doing this at the same age.

Rapid covid test and flu tests came back negative. I'll get the PCR result tomorrow probably but I imagine it will be negative as well. I wonder what the heck this is.

I really, really want some pudding right now.

I work with so many people who tested positive this week, I was certain my kid would. Nope, just a virus. I hope you feel better soon!!!

Took a shower today AND cleansered the tub after. Water is going down the drain! They musta snaked the apartment next door.

Got tired of waiting in the hot for the bus this afternoon, so i will go in the a.m. Now that ive taken my quarterly shower! J/k, biweekly. I spent an hour researching the new (covid, summer) bus schedules, trying to find the optimum connections. Which i will probably have to re-research next week.

Uh-oh - virgo and aquarius arent very compatible. Altho we are both fixed signs.

I think this shower might actually "take." I mean, how easy would it be to just change my life completely right now, just by showering every day again?

Have you gotten the PCR result yet? I've heard there's adenovirus going around, too, which can cause a more severe cold (and/or GI symptoms, too). Seems like everything is circulating right now.

And you deserve some pudding!

Well, we had a nice dinner with son and his gf last night. We went to my son & I's favorite Indian restaurant in town. I know that such a big move is stressful, but I think their overall happiness about where they're going to be living is really helping them handle the stress pretty well. They're leaving Monday now, instead of Sunday so I logged onto work for a minute or two this morning to put in for Monday off as well so we can go see them off. I'm keeping Sunday off too, heck, I deserve a 4-day weekend when my only son moves 1400 miles away.

HUGS Artie. I'm sure that has got to be hard. On one hand you are proud and happy for him, on the other, you're sad because you will miss him. Thank goodness we live in an era of Zoom and stuff, but I know it's not the same. Hugs if desired, Kit

Thanks Kit! And, hugs if wanted to you too.

He just came over to spend a little time with our old man cat, Stormy was always most fond of him. It was nice talking with him again about their plans for the drive up, without his gf this time because (understandably) she's a bit stressed about the logistics of such a big move, she's never done it before. He has moved with us of course from California to Arizona, he was old enough when we moved to remember so it's not his first time doing such a big move.

Awe, that is so precious about your son, Artie, coming over to spend time with Stormy. So sweet. Glad you got a bit of alone time with your son too.

And thanks for the hugs! I always appreciate hugs!

Hey artie Did he get his car checked out for the long trip, or do i remember that he does a lot of car stuff himself? Im glad they are taking it slow - i remember my car flagging at the end of my trip from San Jose to racewalk camp.

Boy that was a long time ago! I have got to get my personal mileage walking back up. Today was the 2nd day i left my apartment, and already walking up the driveway hill was easier. Altho it was also a lot cooler at 9am than it had been the previous day at 5-ish.
Thanks for this!

Yep, he got both of their cars checked out, oil changed, etc. He has AAA too so that's one less worry. I'm glad they're taking it slow too! Do you know that boy is so organized that he's already got utilities including their internet set to be turned on when they get their keys on 9/1? I'm going to send them a "welcome to your new home" gift basket as soon as I know their address, he told us the apartment number but I already forgot it and he hasn't given us the full address yet. I'll remember to ask him before they take off on Monday. This complex they're moving to has 2 different floor plans for the one-bedrooms, and they got the bigger of the two so that is good. It's like 750 square feet or something. Has a fireplace, and full-size washer/dryer in the unit. It looks really nice from the pictures I saw online.

It is definitely easier to walk when the weather is cooler! But good on you for getting out there!
