One good thing about staying home last-minute is, easy for h and i to stay on our respective diets. none of that pesky, tempting holiday food around!

Ugh! I couldn't resist the 75% off on the clothes I bought online. Oh well, H agreed to it. I got a skater dress and a long sleeve babydoll top, both red.

What is this, Denzel's birthday week? Another movie tonight, Unstoppable.

I think i am going to pause my ozempic, if only to see if i do return to some low baseline of poor health. I cannot in good conscience take another shot tonight. I will be crawling to the mailbox if i do. The GP said i had a muscle strain that would take 4 to 6 weeks to clear. I AM feeling better today. This is an unbelievable drug. On the fb groups, most of the people seem to be suffering excruciating side effects (it DOES effectively lower your blood sugar) but keep holding out for the golden pot of weight loss at the end of the journey. I am not that strong right now.

I thought today I should start Christmas shopping. But then I realized I mostly enjoyed Christmas shopping for presents for my mother, who loved opening presents—she was like a little kid sometimes. Watching her open presents was the best part of Christmas.

And of course now she is not here to buy presents for.

I'm sorry you're having such bad side effects.

My H is on Ozempic and has done well on it. I'm on Trulicity. It hasn't done as well as my H's has, but good enough.

Hugs if wanted, @@. That sounds really difficult.

Not quite the same, but I used to always buy my beloved grandmother a calendar for Christmas. Usually one with tea kettles, as she used to collect those, or something else that I thought she'd like. And we'd write important dates in it (like family birthdays), so she wouldn't have to remember. The first year after she passed, I found myself starting to look at calendars, then realizing and feeling really sad.

Re presents - this may seem obvious, but those are all signs of connection, and thats good that you all had those connections. You know, "better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all." I never before thought of that expression as applying to other than romantic love, but i think it does.

Well done for listening to your body. How much weight loss are we talking about Una?

Dr Now show levels or just a few ? Maybe they could refer you to a dietician and also get a workout plan drawn out for you by a physio?

Thanks. My dr offered me a dietician back in june but i said no. I should probably rethink that.

I need to notify him and the clinical pharmacist who prescribed this voodoo poison curse that i am stopping. If i am able to get out of bed next week, i might restart it next saturday.

Yikes Una, that sounds more than a little scary. "Voodoo poison curse". I'm going to ask h's liver dr to send him to a nutritionist, I think the more he and I both look at food as medicine the better off we will both be. Me with my thyroid thing and his NASH.

H is feeling better this afternoon. He pretty much stayed in bed and slept for 2 full days. Today he's up and about, puttering around the house. He said his throat's still a little sore but I haven't heard him coughing at all today so that's something. He tested twice for covid 24 hours apart and both were negative. Hopefully he'll feel up to visiting his friends who are in town at some point today, outside of course. They're leaving tomorrow morning super early.

IF anyone changing eating habits is interested - 3 ingredient pancakes are good (it is eggs, bananas -the riper the better, and cinnamon - you can add in blueberries too (4 ingredients) but if you add too many - it will get a little messy- and you can add about 1/8c of gluten free flour if you want - I don't but my friend likes hers better with just a little of it).
Here is one version that leaves out the cinnamon -but I like it with the spice. I sometimes use a little coconut oil but also if your pan is non-stick enough - you don't need much if any at all. Banana Egg Pancakes - Just 2 ingredients!

@@ - it will be a hard year or so of firsts of all sorts. I know it is hard. I was surprised at some of the firsts I noticed after my mother died. She would have been surprised as well.

Exhankster - that sounds horrible. Better living through chemistry? - I don't think so.

Interesting, thank you! I just bought bananas today and they're pretty green so I'm gonna print this out to try at some point.

The texture will be a little different.
We usually add some berries or walnuts. The gluten free flour I use the most when cooking for her is almond flour or coconut flour or oat (I just blitz some rolled oats in a blender until powdery - or sometimes I just toss in some rolled oats just as they are). My friend had to completely change her diet (it had been pretty processed) and this was a surprise to her how much she liked it

I always hesitate to say to someone that it gets easier, because I don't think that's what you want to hear when you're hurting like that, but I think it does get easier with time and when you can talk about it with someone. All those firsts do really hurt though. I still grieve at times and it's been four years. Hugs @@.

Hugs if wanted @@. Next month will be 9 years without my Dad, and even now, I still sometimes see something in a store or whatever this time of year and my first automatic thought is Ooh I should get that for him for Christmas... and then I go oh. Just yesterday, actually; it was a t-shirt that says "I fix things and I know stuff. It's what I do." or something like that.
