She is a therapist now. Seriously.
She was an extremely smart, extremely screwed up attorney when I met her. And she lurved the therapist she hired.

Saw forensic T the first time today. He's really nice. A bit different to my T, but nice. I can already tell he's gonna push me more than my T though, my first homework is "talk to parents about how your boyfriend behaves towards you" and "file a report with the police".... not looking forward to either of those.

Wow, CNS.

I'm stunned that a therapist would just throw that out there as homework.
Both sound like things that would require several sessions of preparation to me.
Apologies if I am overstepping or have misunderstood here.

Take care,

Lost

I agree that they sound like a lot for a first session. My therapist pushes me at times, but I'm sure he'd expect us to spend time discussing that sort of homework before I'd be ready to act on it. Even now, having worked together for years. Definitely not the first session.

I really must learn to be less sensitive and stop letting other people steal my joy. Ugh. (nothing/nobody here).

Along with the above, I may write some Kismias poems. (ha! one of the guys in my poetry group introduced this "form" to me. It made me laugh.)

Thank you for your concern. I think the talking to my parents thing is actually very good. My T never pushes me for that at all, and my parents and I have a good relationship (which I told him, and I am glad he trusts me with that). He then asked how I'm gonna go about my life until we next seek, kind of like an action plan, and I mentioned and asked about whether you can talk to the police. Like I learned that we have the equivalent of wellness checks, and I think it's probably secondary to him as homework to talking to my parents, but I also think I probably triggered his background quite some.

Possible trigger:

I actually am quite glad that he mentioned these things and suggested them.

Perhaps rephrasing you could try to accept that you are more sensitive and don't have to change. Just learn how to cope better.

You could have a google of HSP.

If it was to do with work/close relationships, having better boundaries can help.

I survived my annual call from my aunt yesterday. I think my crankiness is over now.

Was it one of those one sided conversations where you could say hi, walk away, then the other person wouldn't even notice by the time you came back?

I didn't have high hopes for the new Halo series, enjoying it so far. Battlestar vibes.

Or, dear, appreciate and embrace the way your sensitive nature allows you to see the world's beauty and feel things deeply, including your joy.

...and stop letting others steal your joy.

I still remember when my former therapist gave me a handout on HSP. It was so helpful in reframing the "too sensitive" language I grew up with.
