It's been a long three weeks.

'Since when did they upgrade peanuts to raisins?'

My conversation with RC spun off in a direction that was quite different from what I expected, but we had a good chat about how to meet myself in my feelings.

And funny about the box cutter and can opener! Fun fact: I grew up using an electric can opener. I can never seem to figure out the handheld kind (like where you open the whole can, not just punching holes). I even watched a how-to YouTube video, but still couldn't seem to do it. I've had to ask H to help me with it when the electric can opener was broken. I prefer the cans with self-opening lids!
The trick with the handheld ones is you have to tilt it a little to get it to catch. I had trouble with them as well till I realized if I tilt it, push it then press the handles it catches then it’s easy to open.
Thanks for this!

I saw a video that showed most of us have been using the can opener wrong. You actually want to cut the outside not inside? I couldn’t do it. I struggle with the tilted way, but can do it. I think part of my problem is I’m left handed. It makes a lot of things a little more challenging. Like measuring glass. You wouldn’t think of it, but the side most see is on the back for me…

I swear by this can opener and will never buy the kind I grew up using.

The couch died last night after the can opener conversation? You guys usually emerge from between the cushions on Sunday night.

How was everyone’s day?

Was OK, I guess. Rather intense session with Dr. T, in part dealing with D and also with stuff going on in the country (and some connection there, regarding concerns with D), followed by dinner with my parents. Which went OK, I guess. They wanted D to be there, but she refused to go, so was just me and my parents. On the plus side, I got them to switch to a restaurant/taproom (with good pizza) I prefer rather than the one D prefers.

How about your day, Jersey?

Hey LT-I do worry for children. It’s not easy raising a child in today’s world especially a child that faces challenges. I feel like support and resources offered are going to dwindle even more.

I’m glad you at least got to go to a place you like for dinner.
Thanks for this!

I’m terrified. Court is tomorrow at 1:30pm pacific. Any good thoughts or well wishes greatly appreciated! I have a little hope because the amount they’re asking for is outrageous. But still scared. This could really break us.

And on top of that, H might be fired tomorrow. Only one month on the job and they’ll be doing layoffs.

My parents have had a dog for 12 or so years. She was pretty much my sister. She's dying right now. I hope my dad can be there in time to spend some time with her. I was able to talk to her through the phone.

I’m sorry CNS. To many (definitely myself included) pets are our family. And grief is grief when losing a loved one. You cannot measure it or compare it. I’m sorry you’re losing a sister.

Well, court didn’t go any way I expected it to. They delayed it by 90 days saying they wanted to try to settle with us… I’m not sure we did the right thing, but we agreed to it. For us, now we can try to find a lawyer and/or get advice. And maybe they will give us a good settlement? Maybe they’re afraid we’ll win because it was Covid? Idk. And if they don’t try to settle reasonably, we can then show they lied to the court.

And it looks like H didn’t lose his job? At least according to his boss he didn’t. But who knows what was said between boss and CEO.

Definitely get a lawyer and let the lawyer handle it from there. They are probably hoping you won’t get one. Once you get the lawyer- I imagine the lawyer will probably send a letter letting them know you are being represented and they will (hopefully) change their tune.
Thanks for this!

What's currently happening in my country is having a deleterious effect on my mental health. I miss having a therapist to talk to.

I understand that for sure. I've spent parts of sessions ranting and/or crying about things. Have you looked into any therapists? Maybe it could help to just have someone to rant to, even if you don't feel a strong connection at first?

I spent some time last weekend looking. I spent that same time crying. It's kind of overwhelming trying to find a new therapist. None of them are P. I feel very alone right now.
