1. I've been in therapy 33 yrs.some definitely necessary some for self discovery.
2.Went into therapy felt souless, totally empty, an abyss w/ no bottom. Noticed lg.fluctuation in moods.
3. Childhood abuse, several suicide attempts, a lot of SI behavior during last 28 yrs. seems to be in control now.
Suicidal thoughts are constant now.Physically beaten for yrs.as a kid & emotionally hurt badly.Depression started ~age 5.
4. Therapy has been awesome! I've achieved so very much in my life esp.my goal to help others and even experience happiness. I've learned a great deal & I worked at my therapy. Respond to medications great, sometimes they need to be changed & find
correct concentration. Takes patience.Therapy has given me a life. I work hard at it-always learning & discovering.

1. How long have you been in therapy? I've been in psychodynamic therapy with a psychiatrist since May of 2006. So, almost two years.

2. What are your main symptoms, the reasons you went into therapy? My family told me I needed "help". I think I've always been depressed and didn't really realize that was abnormal. You know when they give the symptoms of depressed - a feeling of sadness that has lasted more than two weeks - I always think "only TWO WEEKS"???? WHAT???? That's nothing!".

3. What do you think are the origins of your symptoms?
Depression runs in my family. My mother was abandonded by her parents at a young age and had a rough time with attachments. My dad is an emotional iceberg. I'm all bottled up.

4. How successful has your therapy been?
The jury is still out on this. I sometimes see huge amounts of progress, then other times, I see none. I don't FEEL better, but I am more aware...and maybe that's WHY I don't FEEL better!!
