1. How long have you been in therapy? I've been in psychodynamic therapy with a psychiatrist since May of 2006. So, almost two years.
2. What are your main symptoms, the reasons you went into therapy? My family told me I needed "help". I think I've always been depressed and didn't really realize that was abnormal. You know when they give the symptoms of depressed - a feeling of sadness that has lasted more than two weeks - I always think "only TWO WEEKS"???? WHAT???? That's nothing!". 3. What do you think are the origins of your symptoms? Depression runs in my family. My mother was abandonded by her parents at a young age and had a rough time with attachments. My dad is an emotional iceberg. I'm all bottled up. 4. How successful has your therapy been? The jury is still out on this. I sometimes see huge amounts of progress, then other times, I see none. I don't FEEL better, but I am more aware...and maybe that's WHY I don't FEEL better!! |
