So... have had severe anxiety... lately..

sitting there in waiting room.. minding my own business reading a magazine... and.... out comes.. this T.. with booming voice.. and went up to person sitting kitty corner to me..

and... I reacted... scared me so bad.. jumped up.. the magazine flew.. and I screamed...

sure.. didn't mean to.... anxiety!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so.... an alter made a joke.. to lighten.. the waiting room.. people's tension..

and.. this lady said "to each their own".. and looked down her "snooty" nose at me...

judged.. tried.. and convicted.. at a outpatient.. mental health.. clinic..

all.. I can do.. is laugh... or I would cry....

scared the crap.. out of the T.... because.. we were physcially so close... when....the magazine went flying..didn't hit anyone.. just flew straight up in the air....

pure reaction............. absolutely.. no thought on my part..

couldn't help it... HONESTLY... couldn't...

so... just trying not to cry.. I guess...

Startling easily is common in ptsd. I startle everytime my kids come into the laundry room and my back is turned to them.

I am so sorry you felt "convicted." Of course you didn't DO anything!

Peace

I had a similar incident last week in a busy fast food restaurant. I am very aware of my surrounding and this little elderly woman approached me from my left. I saw her approach--she was a little old woman who could not possibly be a thread to me. She walked behind me to get a napkin from the condiments area. She must have been afraid that I didn't see her and might back into her, so she lightly touches my back. Do you know I immediately squared myself to her, and about scared her half to death. She apologized to me and I felt REALLY bad. I was so embarrassed and apologized back. There was no excuse for my reaction. She was like 80 yrs old and maybe 100 lbs soaking wet. I knew she wasn't a threat, but my body reacted reflexively.
