Thanks for the replies.

This is not my imagination. We had many, many conversations on me wanting to be a clin. psychologist. Long sessions on bish-bashing it out. I did ask him at one point why we bothered going on about this if it was such an unreachable goal. He said that we talk about it because it causes such distress, and he said that I had basically boxed myself in and wouldn't let myself out! But why have therapy on something that is unachieveable? Kind of like someone wanting to be an astronaut!

And now I'm stuffed because I know I can't be.

I'm sure it isn't your imagination! I recall many of our conversations over this time period, pegasus. Hon, you CAN be a clinical psychologist! I know it doesn't feel that way right now, but that's part of the reason you go to therapy for yourself, too. When you are fully rational about life situations etc you won't need therapy. Realize that you are still reacting to this distressing news, ok?

It is a set-back, surely! And I would be upset too at this point, however, you need to put that energy into how to get yourself to your ultimate goal. It isn't the end of the world (though I know it feels that way right now) that your plans are twarted and not within your immediate grasp. It probably also hurts that you shot yourself in the foot by quitting. Try and remember that feeling of taking charge of your life when you quit, and realize that you CAN have that feeling about your career in the future.

You can be whatever you wish to be... it will take more time, and maybe a few jogs in the path. Remember, clinical psychologists can work into their 70s if they feed their minds well. I'm stuffed!

((((((((((((( Sky ))))))))))))) I'm stuffed! I do appreciate your input and yes you have been with me all the way through this journey.

I am seriously pissed off at the moment. I pointed out to my T that he has %#@&#! up my life! And he just nodded and said, "I know!" I'm stuffed!

I know I will get through this patch of thorns eventually.

Pegasus, you have never ever ever been an idiot. You trusted your T, which is a good thing... he was the one who led you astray. Not your fault.

You have a good heart, and a good mind. You can do much that you set your mind to, and the fact you've taken all these courses thus far prove that at least.

You have some options about what to do with your future now, and although you're not at the place you want to be... you can get somewhere you want to be. It'll just take time, more time than what you should deserve to go through given the circumstances, sadly. I'm stuffed!

((((((((((Pegasus))))))))))))) I'm sorry about the situation you're in, I couldn't even imagine how I'd begin to deal with it. But realize that it isn't your fault for taking your T's advice. I think a lot of us would, given the circumstances.

In life you can be anything you want to be....
All your dreams can come true
Go back to school
Go for your dreams
See if you can get funding
Or do it over time part on the internet?
If this dream does not come true
Maybe another one will come your way...
may peace find you
never give up hope

Thanks Christina and muffy.

Muffy, I was one of those people who thought/believed you can do/be whatever you want to but I'm faced with reality now. I can't hang on to this dream anymore. Too many barriers.

Anyway, I'm gonna finish the job I'm doing and then curl up and die for a bit.

Thanks all, had enough of this thread now!
