I'm 16 years old. But I feel I may be a danger to society (perhaps a future sexual predator) and I also may suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder.

I don't feel like I should remain in society right now. Even with counceling It doesnt seem right for me to even be in society.

What can I do?

In what way are you a danger to society ? Because what you think is a danger others may not, you are very young and at your age see things differently.

Hi,
You can go to your nearest hospital emergency room to get evaluated. If they agree that you are a danger to others, they may admit you or get you connected to resources that will help you.

You are very bright and very brave to admit this may be a problem. I hope you get the care you deserve.
Best,
Okie

tavares, I try not to give advice...but, here I go anyway. Try to find a good, really good pdoc or therapist who understands what you are struggling with. They can help explain things to you and, if needed, get you into a hospital. If you feel you really are in eminent danger of hurting others or yourself, go to the ER. Okay, I will stop with the advice.

For me, the teen years were a very turbulent time. Matter of fact, I would never want to have to redo them. You are going through enormous stress...physically and emotionally. Don't count yourself out...you can be a part of society...a good part of society. Please see a good therapist or pdoc.

(((((tavares7))))) I'm so sorry that you're going through this and I admire the courage that it must have taken to post these feelings. You've gotten some really good advice, continue to be strong and voice your concerns to a doctor or councelor. If you are unable to get in to see either, please do go to an ER and let them know what you're feeling.

Ok I have read your thread in the mens section its your age working againts you or rather lack of experience with the world, you are NOT danger to society in any way shape or form ! Hugs to you !

The only danger there is, is if you get caught stealing which is never a good thing ! You could get caught ...

I know of one man personally who has the same issues as you and once he over come the embarrasment and was able to go into a shop and buy them for himself he was fine.

By all means go see a Dr it will help you accept a few things and understand them too.

Lots of men have this issue its just not talked about very much.

Hugs to you my love ............ Trish.

On the abuse forum you mentioned desires which, if ACTED UPON would make you a danger to society. That's why you need to talk to a professional about those desires. But there is a big difference between thoughts and actions.

We all have had thoughts occasionally of doing something we should not do. As long as we don't do it - no problem.

If these thoughts are obsessive and are getting in the way of you enjoying life, or if you are feeling compelled to ACT on them....you absolutely need to talk to a professional.

Let us know how it goes.

Psych hospitals/wards are not scary at all so don't let that deter you - too many people think they are.

If you are worried about yourself or what you think you might do, it IS worth it to go.

You might feel like you don't belong in society because the stigma surrounding mental illness can sometimes make you feel like an outcast, someone that is alienated. Hate to say it, but Borderline comes with a very strong stigma because majority of people don't understand it. The title comes with baggage.

If counseling isn't helping you, you may have to find another resource. If therapy is going nowhere it often means try-try-again. You need to find someone who you trust, can confide in, who will understand you and who will have the right training. My therapist specializes in mood disorders, while my aunts' specializes with Cluster B personality disorders.
