I'm grinning - what is it she said to me the other week when I said I couldn't do something... oh yeah "Kiya, as a Cognitive Behavorial Therapist...." I talked over her saying "Ohhhhh I'm in trouble"... and she continued "Yes (laughing a little) you are in trouble"....

I really hate---

"I don't know."
"I don't have an answer to that."
"I wish I had an answer to that."
"I wish I knew what to do."

But it's all okay because he's being honest.

This one I really hate: "I'll see you next time"

I have been weekly for two years and lately twice a week. This just seems so non-commital to me. Granted he hasn't canceled often but it happens.

I HATE IT!!!!!

I really like this thread. It is interesting that some of the things people report that they really hate their T to say, I really like! What does that mean? One person's poison is another person's delight.

Two things I don't like that T says:

"I'll get my computer and check that out." And then he gets his laptop and looks something up on it and it seems to take forever and I cannot get him away from the effing computer and back to my therapy session!

"How is the divorce going?" If I wanted to talk about the divorce, I would bring it up.

Exactly the same words can mean totally different things, depending on the context, tone of voice, etc.

I love my t., but I get very tired of hearing him say
"Everything is fluid, life is just like that" and "why are you always so hard on yourself?" I don't know. Just seems reasonable that it's my fault.

I think I'm gonna buy him one of those tubes with colored water that tips back and forth. Words T's not allowed to say anymore.

I guess I can't blame her for being new, but YEESH.

"Don't be so hard on yourself"

Pointing out that I do it doesn't make it stop, it just makes me feel WORSE and makes me BE harder on myself to stop the behaviour. Nasty cycle.

"I am not a permanent person in your life. this is not permanent"
"well, it's actually time to stop now. do you want to come back next week?"
-of course i want to come back! i don't even want to leave why would i not want to come back. stupid question.
"Do you think that borders on obsessive or no?"
-um, now i do, thanks.
"our goal is to cut our sessions down to just once a week"
-no thats your goal. thats not what i want at all!
"its hard when what you want and what you need don't match up"

and finally, T is not allowed to say:
"good-bye"
